can a president fire a vice president without a majority vote of shareholders?
can a president of a company board fire a vice president without a shareholder vote? this is for a project in school. the president fired the vice president but i thought they had to be fired by shareholders
if the answer is no, is there any case this can happen(other then the president has majority shares!)?
so when the president fires the vice president, is he still a director?
also what is the president and the vice president duties in the company?
I think it depends on the company charter.
The shareholders elect the board of directors…not the Prez or V.P. And the “board” decides on corporate officers like the Prez and V.P. Besides that, companies have a lot of different V.P.s. There usually isn’t just one. (It’s not like the U.S. Government.)
But the short answer is YES the President can fire the V.P.
I hope this helps…
There are two concepts you are working with
Board of directors and (Chairman of the board, members of the board, etc) these people (or a sub committee) select the CEO, presidents, vicepresidents. etc. and Senior management reports to the board. The board make economic and operaationsl policy goals and directs senior managment to implement those goals in a manner suitable to the board.
Senior management includes CEO, CFO, President, vicepresident, they hire, fire people that report to them and make directives (orders) for thier employees to implement policy.
