   these death panels are news to us in europe I wonder how they hid it from us for long. Thanks Tim.
   Im from Ireland and our system is following the USA GOP model and we have some of the worst medical care in western europe and our hospitals are closing down. Americans have no clue how universal health care is excellent and considered as much a right as the right to liberty.
   Wake up USA Obama is finally bringing u into the 21st century u should be estatic. Liberty without health is misery.

   ‘Costs’ is the first excuse that will be used to ‘kill grandma’ and banksters like Goldman Sucks and JP Morgan knows that.

   The context is the bail outs.

   We can’t afford to keep bailing out Goldman Sucks and JP Morgan with their trillions in worthless derivatives and credit-default swaps.

   just look at the history of ANY LONG TERM GOVERNMENT program has the same cost growth. If you can show me a government program that costs were accurately predicted 10 years after it was put into affect it would be the 1st in US history.

   Terminal care can be absurdly expensive considering the quality of life of the patient. Often times the patient isn’t the decision maker and families watch in horror as their loved one’s suffering is prolonged by the medical team. People should be enabled to make their own responsible life/financial decisions even when it is government or insurance company money.

   You leave the wrong impression about the Barbara Wagner case in Oregon

   She was at a stage of lung cancer where she was told she had at most 4 months to live

   The last month is usual horrendous as you shrivel up to nothing

   No one suggested the drug was a cure. But the manufacture claimed it MIGHT give you up to 2 more months in the hospital

   She was turned down for the drug, but rather than protest she went ahead & bought it for $50

   It didn’t work as she didnt even make it to 4 mons.

    Barbara Wagner’s received a rejection letter from The universal care system setup in her state run was crushing. The 64-year-old Oregon woman, whose lung cancer had been in remission, learned the disease had returned and would likely kill her. Her last hope was a $4,000-a-month drug that was prescribed for her, but the rationing board refused to pay. What the state run Oregon Health Plan did agree to cover were drugs for a physician-assisted death. Those drugs would cost about $50.

    How will replacing 10s of thousands of bureaucrats in insurance companies with 100s of thousands of bureaucrats working for the government make heath care cost less. How will force 50 million uninsured into a system with out adding more doctors nurses and hospitals make it more accessible. All that is going to happen is that the health care will cost more and be rationed only to people that work, useless eaters need not apply
