Why do people claim that forming a third party Tea Party would split the vote?
50 percent of people don’t vote. Question is, what can the tea party do to get those people interested in voting. plus If a tea party (3rd party) was formed, all real conservatives will follow along, under the tea party cause. And the RINOs will become extinct.
Sorry but I’m not voting republican in 2012. I much rather vote independent.
@Squirrel
But the other third parties don’t have the momentum that the tea party has right now.
Most people are too stupid to vote 3rd party. Hence why we are stuck with the 2 party democrats and republicans
because it doesnt work like that?
the 50% of people who dont vote are always trying to be tapped.
by your logic none of the other parties are trying to get into that 50% and the tea party for whatever magical reason has a shot at doing this.
fear mongering
nothing else
I think you are correct. It did not work that way the last election. The Strategy was to separate two issues , spending and taxes, that would only lead to Republicans getting elected from the rest and get people to just agree to that one thing. By splitting away all other issues and getting people to just focus on that one thing more socially conservative Republicans got elected.
Everybody wants the government to cost less and not tax more, and by not discussing what would get cut it is easy to get people to agree, but after the election we found that Americans wanted to the laws of math changed not spending cut.
“what can the tea party do to get those people interested in voting”
Bupkis.
The majority of non-voters are in the 18-25 demo, and the Tea Party has no prayer of getting any traction with that demo.
Let’s see . . . If by being combined the they can get 51% of the vote and win and by splitting both sides get less than that the other side wins. Sounds like just the right thing if you want the dems to win.
