My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave, I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves, I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone, I would also do that.- Abraham Lincoln. C’mon , I’m Canadian and I know the Civil War was not not only about slavery, you could mention new hampshire and the fugitive slave act. JUST SAYIN…
Emancipation Proclomation : Declares that all slaves ON STATES WHO ARE STILL IN REBELLION AGAINST THE UNION to be free
not all all slaves, not the slaves in the border states as lincoln wanted to retain their milatary and strategic support
the treaty of paris was not the ending of the 7years war, the end of the war was caused by the peace of paris… the peace of paris was also known as the treaty of 1763 and the treaty of paris was not signed until the end of the american revolution in 1783
@dhatipo i havent read a single page of american pagent or any of the other supplementary readings but PRINCETON REVIEW! omg. i’m reading that atm and it helped me get a reasonably high grade on a full mock exam 67/80 multiple choice 7 dbq 3/4 on frqs… lol
@avariceichiban Oh now you resort to a dead language. Funny. Look, bringing in asinine logic doesn’t help your arguments. The US in the case of the Civil War was an exceptional argument in regard to slavery and the Civil War. the South seceeded on slavery – look at the documents for each state in regards to secession. You’ll find their justification for leaving the Union there unless you’re willing to go to the efforts of doctoring American history. The destruction of the South made the US great
