On Monday, President Bush lifted an executive order banning offshore drilling.
On Tuesday the price of a barrel fell .44.
On Wednesday it fell .14.
On Thursday it fell .31.
Today it is down 41 cents.
The Executive Branch is doing its job, but what is the Democrat-controlled Congress doing to ease the burden of high gasoline prices on the American people?
If they pass the reform or not they have opened themselves up to some very angry constituents
Do you think from March 29- April 11 when the Congress is recessed will a single Democrat Senator or House member open themselves up to anything but the most sanitized forum?
What better way to guard against the abuse of power than to put conservatives in charge of the nation’s purse strings and a liberal as commander-in-chief of the military? After all, the last time we had a Democrat president and Republican-controlled Congress they actually managed to balance the budget and even had a surplus.
Obama , a Democrat if elected, will he be as bad for our economy as the Democratic controlled congress has been? There is NO DOUBT that the control change of of congress from republican to Democratic control has been bad for everyone but the big business and members f congress.
Given the fact that this administration has not been up front with the people and has continued efforts to keep the war going, how do you feel about the White House doing a cover-up or putting a rosy look on the war?
I expected the report to go to Congress from the General not to go to the White House rhetoric committee.
Jeeper,
I expected the General to report to the people before the White House filtered it and made it to fit their agenda to keep the war going. Understand??????
The last time there was a Democratic controlled congress and a Democrat in the White House(77-81) we had double digit inflation, high unemployment, long gas lines and Iran Raided our embassy, took hostages and did not let them go until Ronald Reagan’s inauguration day on Jan. 20, 1981. Now of coarse you never hear about any of this today but these are irrefutable facts that are being ignored by the mainstream media.
Why does it seem like every two weeks, Obama is all over primetime talking about the same things?!
Is there a set number of "Addresses to Congress" he’s going to give?
The United States of America has come to a significant turning point, and what happens in this president’s term, without any doubt, has the potential to change the very fiber of the land of the free. President Barack Obama’s administration and Congress are stepping up their secular progressive efforts, government-owned corporations, government-owned health care, redistribution of wealth, increased taxes, more social programs, etc. – with the ultimate goal of terminating this capitalist society and establishing a socialistic state. They would like nothing more than to empower the government to coddle each and every one of its citizens from birth to death, taking away innate initiative and incentive to work. Those are definite. The only variable is the people; only you have the power to make sure this crippling end never comes about.
Whether or not you want to believe it, Barack Obama is a SOCIALIST.
Do you understand that under socialism, you no longer own anything? Please look up the definition of Socialism if you’re still unsure of what is being discussed here. I’ll be here when you get back.
Socialism is one of the greatest threats against our unique American freedoms that exists. Socialism is only one small step away from communism. Go ask any Russian, Venezuelan, or Cuban immigrants that you can what it’s like living under communism. After you’ve asked them then decide for yourself (we get to do that in a free society) if you want us to step in that direction via socialism. Ask yourself what the world will be like under socialism once the last bastion of individual liberty is gone.
We lose a major check and balance metric, and history shows that EVERY time that Congress & the White House is of the same Party, corruption & inflation follow within 2 years.
Pelosi & Obama = an out of control FEDERAL government.
This is another reason I am for McCain, we cannot have Pelosi running wild in Congress with Obama rubber stamping her legislation.
As we seem to march to nominate Obama, are we forgetting what happened with John Kerry, Dukakus, Mondale and McGovern? We generally succeed with moderates – Clinton & Carter (and arguably Al Gore) and fail spectacularly with liberal nominees. Personally I want to see the Party win, and am very tired of hearing Nancy Pelosi whine that Dems in Congress cannot be effective without a Dem in the White House – and we need progress.
