Why do North Americans like Sarah Palin as a political figure?
I genuinely do not understand. I’d appreciate answers from people who like Sarah Palin and those who do not.
I do not want answers such as “in comparison to (so and so)…,” or “I don’t like (so and so).” This tells me nothing about why you like or do not like Sarah Palin.
all you have to do is compare her to the fool we have now..
She’s hot. Other then that, especially when she opens her mouth, I can’t stand her.
I genuinely do not understand why people like Barack Obama.
She quit her first “real” political job as governor (mayor of Wasilla doesn’t count. If you’ve been there as I have you would understand) and didn’t even complete her first term because she couldn’t take the political heat. What makes her so qualified to think she can handle the heat from the White House? She is too polarizing, too extreme. Yes, she is very nice looking. But being runner up as Miss Alaska 1983 doesn’t make her qualified for much at all except nicer than most to look at. She is no leader, she has no constituency, and even her own Republican Party leadership looks at her with disdain and humor. America doesn’t want her as President, period, much less her own party.

Sarah Palin offers something that most politicians do not. An apparently strong view point that appears to belong to her.
In other words a vision of how things should be that you can assess and either agree with or not.
If you do agree and buy into the ideological proposition then at least you can feel the strength of continuity that will be present when the ideas move forward and evolve rather than the normal political who simply ducks and dives with public and even worse, media opinion. As we currently have in the UK , a government with no real direction but one that manages to follow opinion while pretending to lead.
She is the only politician who broke off the traditional politician.
And like the first answerer said, she is better when compared to the joker we have in power.
Although she is a little coo coo, she isn’t as bad as other buddies of hers.
Sarah Palin brings a whole lot of attention to the Republican Party , she may not be the brightest bulb in the pack but Republican and Democrats both keep there eyes on her , she has a way about herself that is interesting and funny , and doesn’t America need funny right now .
Sarah Pailin gets talk show host to say they were sorry and I would not be surprised if she gets to throw the first pitch at a World Series Baseball game . Only in America .
I don’t like her because she is plainly an idiot. She speaks directly to the (sadly) idiotic majority of Dumbed down America. They fall hook, line, and sinker for her downhome America, Baseball and applepie schpeel. Which scares the hell out of me, because these same people believe we should give the 2% ultra-rich huge tax breaks forever to create jobs which they are not and plainly have not done in America for almost a decade. She is a tool, a fool and a very easily led puppet just like her supporters.
