we are comparing apples and oranges here. it is a state vs the federal government. a state does not have nearly any of the responsibility of the that of the federal government. It does not have military plus a state is required to balance a budget where the federal does not. Your question is very unfair
I’m not sure I know what you mean when you say Obama can’t compete against Palin. It seems to me there had a big contest of some sort last year, and that the team of Obama and Biden beat McCain and Palin. Silly me, maybe I’m mistaken about this.
Here is another basic fact. Palin is not balancing the budget the way you think and there is no surplus. As of June 2, the state of Alaska was still drawing on its reserves to balance the budget.
