“The risks, the costs, the disruptions, and the incalculable damage lead me to but one conclusion: the Senate must pass this legislation before the Congress adjourns.” -Ronald Reagan
“The full consequences of a default — or even the serious prospect of default — by the United States are impossible to predict and awesome to contemplate. Denigration of the full faith and credit of the United States would have substantial effects on the domestic financial markets and the value of the dollar in exchange markets…The Nation can ill afford to allow such a result…”
I wish to god everything we’re seeing in the political climate was happening circa six years ago, but I’m afraid that Paul is too easy to paint as a cook now. He’s solid on every belief, but I’m not confident that he can talk his way to the white house, and I’m not even completely convinced anymore that he’s going to be the president we need. At this point I might prefer that Obama wins again, let things get REALLY bad, and then have Chris Christie come in and obliterate everyone in 2016.
Dr. Paul looks casual and comfortable in this video.
@quaternio If Ron Paul were to be elected as President, it would provide the extreme contrast needed to better represent the whole. Libertarian doesn’t mean you have to be against all social programs. It’s more like don’t fuck with me and I won’t fuck with you, don’t tell me what to do and I won’t tell you what to do. People just wanna live their lives and have enough problems supporting their own families, which is the most important thing to anyone who isn’t a sociopath.
@1STAP04 Pardon my presumptions, but I don’t know why you are defending Ron Paul if you really want to fix socialistic programs; that is not what libertarians intend when they criticize the programs that exist.
@quaternio Sounds more sociopathic to say “I pay my taxes, therefor I do my part”, than to find ways for people to prosper on their own more easily.
@quaternio In my state, it was declared unconstitutional to have to work to earn welfare. Does that make sense? I know a lot of otherwise good workers who turn down jobs because they’re on unemployment. I know people who get over $500/month in food stamps when they make over $3000/month. How about having to take a drug test to get welfare? How about having to pick up garbage on the freeway for food stamps? Work for your money, that’s how the world works.
@quaternio How can one even respond when you call paying taxes efficient. How much of that 1 cent goes to good causes? The amount of money wasted in the process is unacceptable. By the way, I love how you assume about me. I don’t want to abolish the Government. I just want to “fix the institution”. You are blind to the problem. People take advantage, no matter what you say. Change the social programs, I never said you have to get rid of them.
@1STAP04 Or to put it another way, the only way to avoid the fallacious argument of “gov’t is ALWAYS bad/inefficient” is to admit sociopathic values; people forget that the “noble” libertarians of the past were up against tyrannical monarchies. To any degree that our elected officials abuse their power, the answer is to fix the problem of abuses, not abandon the ideals of a nationalistic humanism.
@1STAP04 Not being willing to help people you have no cause (other than mere human altruism) to care about makes you a sociopath. I pay taxes, and that is a more efficient way to help. Every person in the country paying 1 cent in taxes is a lot more money than a dozen of us spending our entire salaries on charity. If the taxes aren’t used effectively, change the budget and fix the institution; pretending your solving the problem by abolishing the institution is fallacious and stupid.
@quaternio Because we refuse to support the rest of the world we’re sociopaths? If you’re so much better, sell your computer and feed the homeless.
presidents are not elected they are installed. obama will “win” again.
“We won’t raise taxes or raise the debt limit, but we’ll let YOU take the blame when our national debt falls to nothing in the eyes of the rest of the world. Screw the people, our conservative idealism is the only thing that matter.” Liberals may make huge mistakes, but at least we aren’t all ideological sociopaths.
MINARCHY, I’ll take two Pauls-Please!

@travel1949 KILL THE UNION SCUIM
@porkypine1888 i dunno he looks pretty old…looks like a great guy but..
The slimy politicians we elected to look out for our interests have sold out America. They aren’t going to stop Obummer. They’re all on his side. They want to turn our country into a socialist nation! I hate to say this but I think it is too late to stop them. Dem.’s or Repub.s, it makes no difference, we are in trouble! I don’t see any way out of this mess.
When Corperations get’s to much freedom you get into trouble, When government get’s to big, YOU GET TROUBLE! A balance between government and business must be found. My solution is to reduce term’s of politicians. That’s the only thing I can come up with to reduce corruption.
