Along with a tongue-in-cheek ‘”sympathy” card, they sent Mrs. Lowden a copy of the US Constitution and “Robert’s Rules of Order”. Signers of the card include Dr. Wayne Terhune, and Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes, who was a delegate to the Nevada Republican 2008 convention and a member of the platform committee, as well as numerous other delegates. “The American people are tired of fake conservatives and corrupt politicians, and that’s not just the Ron Paul people, it’s the grass roots, salt-of-the-earth Constitutionalists of all kinds across the nation,” said Stewart Rhodes. Dr. Wayne Terhune, who organized the delegate-run convention held in June 2008, said, “Even though it’s too late to send the correct delegates to the convention in Minneapolis, Mrs. Lowden’s defeat is just. As Senator Beers found out, the actions they took at the April 2008 convention have received their just reward.” The Nevada Republican 2008 Convention was illegally and abruptly adjourned (when it appeared Ron Paul was about to win the majority of delegates) on April 26, 2008, and never reconvened. Again, what does Alaska have to do with NEVADA? And, no, Ron Paul was not screwed, he got the delegates afforded to him for coming in second.
@mrrightwing1000 — According to the Alaska Republican Party’s rules, when Huckabee, Romney, et al withdrew from the contest the state delegates should have been apportioned to the remaining candidates in accordance with their relative popularity in the primary. The state party apparatus allocated all of the delegates to the candidate who came in dead last in Alaska: John McCain. Paul beat John McCain 5 to 3 in the primary and the delegates should have been apportioned accordingly.

@al2i You realize Sue Lowden was the State Party Chair in NEVADA right? So because something may have happened in Alaska, that is Sue’s fault? Last time I checked, Mitt Romney won Nevada and got the appropriate number of delegates, Ron Paul won second, and got his allocated number of delegates. What is the problem? Did the Ron Paul people want them ALL even though he did not win the state? I think some of you need to lay off the kool aide.

@mrrightwing1000 We had the same sort of “fast ones” pulled on us by the republican old guard in the Alaska state convention. We were in fact lucky to get our allotted 5 delegates and delegate alternates to the national convention in Minneapolis. Ron Paul did get 5 and John McCain got 3 based on the Alaska Republican party rules after the primary election results. But the delegates for other candidates should not have been counted when they withdrew from the race. Paul should have won AK.
