BETTENDORF, Iowa – Dec 15, 2010: Republican Presidential nominee hopeful and former Pennsylvania Senator and Congressman, Rick Santorum visited with the Tea Party of the Quad Cities members, as well as members of the public at the Bettendorf Public Library. Santorum, an attorney, who lost his bid for a 3rd Senate term in 2006, was asked if he concurred with the statement that, “Any right we the people cannot enforce, is no right at all.” He is indecisive at first and later states, “I don’t think I agree with your reasoning.” I asked Mr. Santorum if he could share with the audience the people’s five rights in the 1st Amendment that are protected from infringement by the government. He got the first four, but did not get the fifth right “to petition the government for a redress of grievances” without some help from the audience… some of which thought I was putting this 16 year congressman “on the spot” too much.
