The pilgrims came to this country not for some dream that maybe someday we will build a place like Wall St. They came to freely practice their religion. The beauty of the United States is that you can a have a Mosque on one corner a Synagogue on another, a Catholic Church on another and a Portestant or Lutheran Church on another. Freedom of religion in this country is a beautiful thing. I think respect for your fellow American’s faith is the least anybody can do even if you are agnostic..

OK the “religious war” propaganda was used by the Church on both conflicts but the Reconquista involves “only” the many rival christian kingdoms of Spain (always been a divided country) vs. a Moorish (not Arab/Saracen) empire who later crumbled into many emirates. The Reconquista is purely political. BTW the Moors came at the demand of christian spanish lords fighting heretic Visigoths centuries before the Crusades.
