What do you think about rick perry’s message that Texas can secede from the union?
I find іt ironic hοw states whose people claim tο bе mοѕt patriotic аrе thе ones whο bailout whеn thе union іѕ аt pit bottom…i аm frοm texas аnd i find thіѕ absurd аnd feel ashamed οf thеѕе folks whο call themselves patriots.
anyone саn claim tο bе patriotic bυt those stick through wіth іt come out much stronger аnd distinguish themselves аѕ rіght patriots
It’s right.
They can.
I reckon America disagrees with the secessionist governor.
The amusing part is…
it’s been 4 months.
We’re 1/12th of the way until 2012
when Obama is elected again
It will never happen, rick’s an as*hole, you guys should start an impeachment campaign, he’s worse than palin.
I know their frustration, but I agree with you. A patriot fights for their country, not against it.
I reckon he rocks! I’d go there if it means we’d have a new president. And I dont reckon they are bailing out. I reckon they are smart.
I seriously doubt they’ll be seceding any time soon. Or ever. And if so, excellent luck surviving for more than a week, Texas.
Oh, and we’ll need that stimulus money back. And all government jobs, please. Yeah, that’ll work out fantastic for Texans.
It is both unpatriotic and incorrect…..not ‘incorrect’ of him to say so, but he is factually incorrect. Texas can divide up into for different states, but they cannot secede.
I reckon Rick Perry is a desperate man seeing the end of his political career grasping for straws.
i know what ya mean
he didnt say that. do more research. btw Texas was once republic and it is allowed to leave again if it wants
if you are from texas, prove it.
so a president that doesn’t place his hand over his heart during the national anthem
what do you call him?
Walk the Walk, Talk the Talk or or ,STFU!
Very excellent point. Really perfect point of view. And those so-called “patriots” are also really ignorant of the constitution (they can’t secede).
Its Patriotic to say no to Tyranny.
You are Pathetic.
Go Texas Go Arizonas will follow.
Can you imagine calling Perry a idoit.
FIne what is Barry Hussein.? So far more ignorant there is no work I can reckon of for him
I’m in…I can buy your house if he moves forward
Frustration.
They can and that is excellent. Maybe they are tired of the government not doing what they are suppose to be doing and that is listening to the tax paying citizens. Texas has been reporting crimes from the illegal mexicans and the drug cartels for years but nobody cared. Now, that Mexico is vital to Obama it is getting attention. But he doesn’t want to secure our borders and enforce the immigration laws, he wants to give amnesty to the same criminals, incredible.
I live in NJ wanna trade houses.
I reckon he was stating a fact because they can.
Ditto. I’m also from Texas. I certainly did not vote for him. Remember his Ted Nugent AK47 inauguration?
Roughly one third of the settlers in the original 13 states felt the same way about our founding fathers.
They were loyal to the king and preferred his abuse rather than fight – but they certainly were not the ones we connect with patriotism, instead we usually reckon of them as cowards.
From what I’ve heard, they can. But I have many friends from Texas and I don’t reckon it will be allowed
@YUG IHC: She doesn’t need to ‘prove it’ to make her point. Isn’t that essentially what you told that Jane idiot? Pfft.
Mmushi! be proud! they should leave the union and I pray that many states would follow them. Its time for people to take America back and stop waiting on change! its never coming, and I believe that America is on a down hill trend unless the people intervene! GOD BLESS THE TEA PARTIES! AND RIGHT-WINGED EXTREMISTS!
Why, because they are not willing to sell out, and give up rights to the status quo? I lived in Dallas for some time and have never found a more patriotic group of people than the Texans. If things don’t go our way in favor of the Constitution, what would you do, say “OK, take me”, or stand up and fight for your beliefs? The state of Texas is one of the few states that could be completely self sufficient if they broke away and could really hurt the USA if they did because of the oil and refineries.
Don’t be ashamed to be a Texan. Be a proud Texan because Texans have guts. I no longer live there,,but I respect the heck out of the Texas mentality. Maybe some see you as rednecks. I see you as those that like the life of freedom that America has given you, until now.
I have always thought that Johnny Reb was the most patriotic of Americans, so I don’t share your sense of irony here.
Then get out of texas if you aren’t proud to be from it. I was born and raised here and am d@mn ashamed of how your president is running this country. Texas CAN secede and they are the only state that can legally do it according to the 10th Amendment, and the Texas Constitution. If you are ashamed of us, get out we don’t want you here anyways.
We are patriots, you’re just another ignorant sheep following what others have led you to believe. We don’t want you, go to DC and see how long it takes before you come running back.
PIERRE: Texas didn’t take any of the stimulus money, we aren’t that stupid.
i reckon he just feels Texas can adhere to our founding father’s principle’s better if it was separate from our crazy fed gov’t. he is probably right.
i agree they dont have the guts to ride out the rough times. but it will be a lot harder if they left the union and george bush was their dictator.
I reckon he is sending a message to the Federal government. States same as the people have had enough of the buffoons in Washington it is time to clean out the deadwood in next two elections. Lets say the house needs a new look.
I agree with Perry, I have yet to submit to tyranny ‘from whatever source derived’
Perry, even though he is a moron, didn’t really say that. Some idiot at Tea Party did. Texas can not really secede..at least that is what my Texas History instructor said. I am not really sure what these people at the tea parties reckon they are protesting. Taxes, which have not gone up in the last three months, the bailouts, the stimulus or something else all together. Seems like a lot of people were protesting different things.
I am taking a wait and see approach.
Perry heard his constitutes gasp at what he said and retracted that statement from what I’ve heard.
Peace*
if you watch rick perry at the tea party in austin where a small group was shouting secede he said he could know some people feeling that way. he did not say that the thought was a excellent one or that he supported it.
Ok let’s get one thing straight. Secession is, at least since the civil war, ALWAY JUST A THREAT…The Civil War was all about the south’s secession. Slavery was a side issue. had there been no secession, there would have been no Civil War….peiod…
It is the ultimate statement of dissatisfaction with the governing authority, as was the case with Key West, Fl. wanting to be The Conch Republic back in 1980. These things are NEVER taken seriously, it is simply an official declaration.
I don’t know if he can or cant..But i say if you can then we want ALL our money back , jobs , everything that OUR government gives TEXAS..Which is allot..Everything is larger in texas lol
Believe it or not, there are many secessionist groups throughout the US – groups in the south, in the northeast, in the west coast. But, I find it humorous when someone says “If you don’t like America you can get out!” one day only to threaten secession the next.
i’m all for it. states rights are just that, states rights. texas should be ran by texans, not some liberal in washington who thinks he/she knows what is best for texas. 22 states have seccesion bills in legislature. it is time washington do as we say, not do as they see fit and snub us. FOCK THE FED
Well, I reckon he’s another irrational hysterical conservative who doesn’t even know his own state’s history. The agreement he is talking about only gives Texas the right to divide into five different states, NOT secede. Texas has no legal right to secede.
I agree with what you had to say. There’s a lot of hysteria these days from certain quarters. My best friend is from Austin. She is another Texan, like you, that thinks this is embarrassing.
They wouldn’t want to admit to it but they are asking themselves a very Liberal question
“My country right or incorrect”? Because they do believe their country is incorrect and not living up to their ideals of “right”
When they question the liberal question — My country right or incorrect — they say no -
It is just that what is vital to them and what made them question this question isn’t a very liberal response
Perhaps they thought their way of life was threatened — at some point the trade became to high for them
What would be even odder is if Texas left and the rest of the US joined Texas to form another nation which looked exactly the same
Or would that be too representative of people power to be allowed ?
Gov may plot such a event to usher in the new world order on all America!!!!
Texas was an independent country before becoming a State and in their Constitution they can succeede if they want to just like any state in the union.
I suggest we have a kick out of the union party instead. The states that do not want socialism or communism or a strong Federal govt should kick out California, Oregon, Washington (state), New York, Vermont, PA, Massachussettes, Maine, and Michigan then the rest of us can go about with Freedom and an unoppressive Fedzilla of a govt.
No, Texas cannot secede. It can only divide into 5 territories according to constitutional experts. Furthermore, you are not alone in how you feel. Texas House sliced his budget 96% in response to his ridiculous statement, and the Senate voted in favor of recieving a large federal stimulus, the very thing Perry was speakign against.
It is one thing to stand up for principles and state’s rights: its another thing to flat out say you will not pay what you owe. Texas recieved federal funding: therefore Texas much contribute to the bill. Whine about states rights all you like: you gotta pay the piper.
Why wasn’t Perry standing up against federal spending in the Bush era? While some may say it was wartime spending, as time passes we are seeing how the right was silent on Bush’s spree because it was not on their dime, but now that it may be on their dime: they want to whine. Well, we whined about paying for the war, and nothing changed. So stay along for the ride!
