Sanger ISD Convocation “Where, Rick Perry” August 15, 2011 Lyrics: Eric There’s bus transportation, school breakfast and lunches, I asked Mr C, he said “That all is fine” He says he’s quite sure that we can do all this As long as it don’t cost this district a dime! (chorus) Where, Rick Perry, are you tonight? Why did you leave us here all alone? You promised us funding for all Texas children, But then you heard “White House” and – psssst – you were gone.. Kent Wonderful teachers, a wonderful school board wonderful parents, I can’t help but think. If everything here is really so awesome, then why do I find so much hair in the sink? (chorus) Where, Rick Perry, are you tonight? Why did you leave us here all alone? You promised us funding for all Texas children, But then you heard “White House” and – psssst – you were gone.. If you don’t find this hilarious, you either have no idea what is going on in education or you have no sense of humor! Go, Teachers!
It’s very sad that some people have such a poor sense of humor! Lighten up guys. It was cute! And funny.
@RhymesWithRight
Huh, so that’s what coerced hysterical laughter, and exuberant applause sounds like. I’ve always wondered.
I saw this on CNN this morning. Glad it’s on here. I’m going to share it with my Facebook friends. : )
@RhymesWithRight Someone needs to lighten up!
@RhymesWithRight Heard of the term parody
Where oh Where were the teachers, principals last spring. We searched the world over, and they were in Austin, so for the students…..pff…they were gone.
Heather & Johncoby and others. It’s painfully obvious in ongoing comments that one person has their panties all in a wad and wants to make a political statement of their own using evocative words like, “coerce, dictatorial regime, fascists, communists, indoctrinate, ” etc. to apply to a SHORT skit that allowed teachers and administrators a chance to bond and vent their very valid frustrations in a FUN, repeat FUN, way. Here’s a toast to humor!
@RhymesWithRight It was just for fun! Not meant to be a political statement
Who invited Rhymes with Phat?
@wyomingnan2 So funny political indoctrination of public employees by the folks who hold the power to hire and fire is acceptable to you? It is unethical and unprofessional, and a misappropriation of district resources and teacher time.
@bethy828 Not only do I live in Texas, I teach in Texas. And because i live and teach in Texas (though I am not a Perry supporter), I am especially sensitive to unethical and unprofessional conduct by district administrators who seek to politically indoctrinate their employees.
Humor is the order of the day for educators in Texas under the foot of the current anti-public education climate in Austin.
If we’ve proved anything, it’s that throwing more money into the system doesn’t improve education. Look at Michigan’s and New York’s mess. We need teachers to do their jobs and cut back on the mandated curriculum. On my daughter’s first day of school, neither she or I were greeted by the teacher. She was too busy speaking spanish to the hispanic parents. Makes me feel real good about how much time is going to be paid to HER education!!
Rhymes With Right are you SERIOUS? Laughing hysterically, clapping and joyfully singing which is SO apparent on the video its not coercion.
Convocations are designed to encourage spirit and togetherness…I think this told all their teachers that they were in this together and – in spite of Perry and other state government leaders, the professional educators remain willing and able to do the best possible job for Texas kids with whatever the agenda-driven politicians leave us with. Public education in America is too important to let them destroy it.
My Sanger ISD education taught me to know better than to look on the surface like this. When there is 1 non-teacher for every 1 teacher in Texas, unfunded mandates from the feds (such as No Child Left Behind — not Perry’s fault), $100,000+ yearly salaries at TEA “service centers,” and taxpayer-funded lobbying in Austin, it’s clear to me who REALLY “left us here all alone.”
Direct this at lobbyists and the TEA and you have my support. Blame Perry, and “Pfft,” this Sanger ISD alumnus is gone.
This is great, and if you are a parent and a sibling to Texas students like me, then you would understand. Free education? No. We pay taxes for that… The only ones that do this for free are the teachers that spend countless hours doing extra unpaid work after school, at home and during the summer to get fired because the budget needs to be cut to pay for other things that are ” more important than our children’s future ” oh and I just went school shopping and found myself buying supplies for

This was very clever and hysterically funny. Made my morning when a friend sent this to my inbox. I hope it goes viral so the rest of the country can get an idea of what Rick Perry has REALLY accomplished as Governor. Thumbs up to Sanger ISD for making the best of a rotten situation. And RhymeswithRight, bethy828 is correct – you really need to get a sense of humor. It doesn’t look like anyone’s arm was bent to take part in this, they look like they are having a pretty good time
Oh RhymeswithRight, get a sense of humor! Either you don’t live in Texas and haven’t put up with Perry’s self serving nonsense for years or you’re pleased that we’re failing our kids in so many ways.
Remember — employees were required to be there. The could not simply walk out in protest without facing disciplinary action from the district. And they were directed by the top leaders of their district to join in the song. That is a tactic employed by dictatorial regimes of all sort, whether fascist or communist.
As this teacher sees it, there are four Sanger ISD administrators who need to be fired for taking a mandatory district event and turning it into a political rally against a candidate for public office, and then coercing their subordinates to join in their political speech.
@dragonmarystl Awesome! Thanks!
