Why are Republicans trying to get rid of the Estate Tax for Billionaires?
While at the same time trying to prevent Unemployment Extensions for the Middle Class. People are unable to feed their families without the Unemployment Insurance, but the Republicans do not care, because they are worried about the Rich having to pay an estate tax.
If this does not show you who the Republicans stand for, then I do not know what else to tell you.
Because it also gets rid of estate tax for people who have to sell the god damn inheritance just to pay the taxes on it.
People have lost homes that have been in the family for generations over that estate tax you’re fighting so hard to keep.
Why do you want people to end up homeless just because a loved one passed away?
In all fairness the Estate tax is REALLY excessive.
Because We are all uneducated rednecks living in trailer parks.
because it isn’t the job of the “rich” to feed everyone in the US.
because the “rich” shouldn’t be punished for having wealth.
because I wouldn’t want my estate HEAVILY taxes upon my death
because I think EVERYONE in the country (rich, poor and middleclass) should be treated equally under the law, even in death.
Rich people are EVIL!
They employ people and stuff…they must be stopped!!
The government has no fucking business taxing a decreased persons will that’s why.
Doesn’t matter if they made 10,000 dollars a year or 10 million dollars a year. Taxing someones assets after they die and left to beneficiaries is just wrong.
because thats who they work for- the rich
the democrats proposed raising the estate tax to 91 million ( the first 91 million is TAX FREE)
the republicans BLOCKED IT
3% of the population pays over 70% of the taxes in this country. I’ll leave it up to you to guess who’s really paying for things in this country, then try to tell me what’s so unfair about letting somebody pass on their land to family without burden.
Why should billionaires have to pay for all the freshly minted currency that lines their pockets? Let’s be sensible and deal with the debt by cutting “entitlements” that the middle class paid into for generations.

The rich can afford to pay the estate tax. It’s the middle class farmers who lose the farm when grandpa dies that need this law gone. Nice try though.
Estate Tax – They aren’t trying to get rid of estate tax, they vetoed a bill to raise estate taxes. According to Rell, who vetoed the bill, “I cannot and will not support yet another tax increase, even a temporary one, at a time when so many of our residents are already struggling.”
Unemployment Insurance – This is supposed to be contributed to by you and your employer and used as insurance if you lose your job. It is not supposed to be an endless fund paid for by the government, out of tax payer pockets, as welfare is. Republicans do care for others, that’s why we donate time and money to help the needy. Sorry we don’t believe good will should be forced by the government.
If this does not show you how much democrats love to misinform people, then I do not know what else to tell you.
You shouldn’t lose 55% of everything you’ve worked for and want to pass onto your family just because you die. That’s excessive even for most sane democrats.
BTW, it’s not just for billionaires. People who own lots of property (i.e. farmers) are also affected by the death tax. They usally end up having to sell off the land just to pay for the taxes.
Do you even know what the estate tax is. Why should more tax be paid on something that has already been taxed to death.
I will be gifting all my belongings to my children.
My mommy and daddy didn’t hand me down nothing. What I have, I have skimped, worked for, and earned. Get off your Dem @$$’s and make your own way, and stop looking for free rides, hand outs, and hand me downs.
1st Why do you feel entitled to the wealth others created & chose not to over consume.
2nd Many of those dollars are being used to create jobs. Has Obama done better at creating jobs.
3rd The Left hates the wealthy inheritors that do nothing to create more wealth or do good for society. The Lefts’ solution create the entitled that have incentives to be as productive as the wealth inheritors. The delta between the 2 – family created the wealth while paying tax on it, they live on. If you think the government should confiscate the wealth of the wealthy check out how the Kennedys’ escape the inheritance tax!
Believe me, both Republicans and Democrats are in it. Don’t let them fool you into thinking anything else. Republicans are for big business. Hey, there’s really nothing wrong with big business. They’re the ones who hire us. Liberal Dems are for distributing money from the rich to give to the poor. They’re not just taking from the rich, they’re taking from the ones who aren’t rich too. That’s totally wrong! Estate taxes are nothing more than federal and local governments digging into your money. They should keep out of people’s money. They get plenty of money when you’re employed by taking this tax and that tax out of our paychecks. Ask yourself do any of these politicians CARE about us? The answer is a big FAT NO!!
It’s a well-known Republican dirty trick that when they are in power, they spend like drunken sailors on shore-leave to give the Sheeple the illusion of prosperity while they stagnate their wages and send their jobs to China. Republican Deficit hawks only appear during Democratic administrations when they need to justify their attempts to dismantle our social safety net and privatize every New Deal initiative that created the American Middle Class (making them too “uppity” for Republicans). When it comes to refusing to extend unemployment benefits or putting an end to jobs programs and health insurance subsidies for laid-off workers, phoney Republican Deficit hawks appear like flying monkeys out of the Land of Oz.
Only when it comes to carrying water for the wealthy and entrenching an inter-generational aristocracy in America do concerns about the deficit go the way of their concerns about a child’s school-lunch program as their obsessive mission to allow one-quarter of 1 percent of people to inherit their parent’s wealth tax-free demonstrates.
The Republican scam over the so-called “death tax” is as bogus now as it was when President Bush first perpetrated it nine years ago. (The House GOP budget, fittingly unveiled by Rep. Paul Ryan on April Fool’s Day 2009, would eliminate the estate tax altogether. CBPP estimated that ending the estate tax would cost the United States Treasury $1 trillion over 10 years.) While Nevada Senator John Ensign griped, “It destroys a lot of small businesses and a lot of family farms and ranches in America,” House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) groused:
“People who aren’t wealthy, who may have built up value in land over generations and many family farms find themselves in situations where they’ve got to sell the farm in order the pay the taxes.”
As it turns out, of course, not so much.
While CBPP estimated that only 1 in 500 estates is impacted by the current law, the Tax Policy Center quantified last year just how few family farms or small businesses are actually impacted by the estate tax proposals under consideration:
We estimate that under the Obama proposal, 100 family farms and businesses would owe tax. (We define such estates as those where farm or business assets are valued at under $5 million and comprise the majority of estate assets.) The Lincoln-Kyl proposal would cut the number to 40. Even under current law, fewer than 2,700 family farms and businesses would owe tax.
Last month, supposed centrist Republican Chuck Grassley (R-IA) signed onto the Kyl-Lincoln reverse Robin Hood plan. As it turns out, Grassley’s worth is estimated at between $2.1 million and $5.2 million. So if Grassley succeeds in exempting himself from paying the estate tax, who will make up the shortfall for the U.S. Treasury? The answer is in your mirror.
THAT’S the REPUBLICAN WAY! The rich pay ZERO while they ride everyone’s back – literally and figuratively. The true Republican mission is to turn America into a Feudal state, where the rich run everything and everyone else knows their “place” – of course, they will TELL you to your face they are doing it for the “Average Joe,” but if we are really to “know them by their fruits” then all we have to do is look at the last 30 years of the middle class under the reign of Reaganomics…. the late, great Middle Class, that is. Even in this terrible recession caused by Republican policies, the rich are thriving and the middle class is shipped to China or working 3 “uniquely American” jobs to come close to the same standard of living as the “Greatest Generation”… In other words… “mission accomplished.”
