@Sivels *based on irrational demands from voters who want legislation because of irrational fears about immigrants taking jobs or terrorists flying planes into their own backyard.
@jfsfrnd remember, the government is not ‘us’. Common humane decency is not upheld by government, it is upheld by rational and empathetic people who work together voluntarily with the people around them.
Government is simply the organisation, whether ‘subject’ to voters or not with the monopoly on violence, mostly it’s legislation is based on deeply demands from irrational voters and people in the private sector (who wants to destroy competition) by people/politicians who just want power.
@Sivels “I say such an argument is faulty given that a government only as good as it’s people” – my point is that a government shouldn’t be needed to prevent racism from being pushed to the fringes. Any person with a rational mind will in 95% of the cases not be a racist.
Furthermore, the deeprooted culture of racism in the south was in many ways upheld by government laws that discriminated against blacks on behalf of the white majority.
@jfsfrnd Any rational society would quickly condemn such behavior. Your argument is that we need government to keep racists in check… I say such an argument is faulty given that a government only as good as it’s people (in a democracy that is), but racism can only be upheld if there is a government in place willing to impose discrimination on behalf of certain groups within a population, with civil rights racial groups. in the bigger picture the majority imposing on the minority.
“. . .groups that automatically must be victims to evil businessowners . . .”
No. Not automatically. But we all know that there would be sections of the country that would discriminate against people of race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, gender, disability sexual orientation, and gender identity and their towns would support that. We don’t want to go back there.
@Sivels If “us” decided we were all of those who belong to the human race and treated each other fairly there would be no need for laws, especially civil rights laws.
Which legislation created after 1964 blurred the distinction between socialism and cibil rights? How many goods and services do you receive from a government (public entity) versus a business (private entity) in say a year’s time? Which one do you think you use more?
@jfsfrnd But I guess the perspective changes when you see people in term of groups that automatically must be victims to evil businessowners, right?
@Sivels *not denying*
@jfsfrnd “us” is those who belong to the human species, lol, animals usually don’t make good customers.
The civil rights bill was 90% a reduction of government… It was government in the first place that upheld the culture of racism that was so deeprooted in southern culture, I’m denying that in any way. Many phonies like Al Sharpton for example can’t make the distinction between socialism and civil rights, also reflected in a lot legislation past 1964.
@Sivels Who is “us”? Why was the law needed in the first place? Why were ANY of the civil rights laws needed?
@jfsfrnd “equal access”? You mean we actually need government’s to make sure businesses want to sell us stuff?… lmao..
Anyway, the ideal government? On that doesn’t exist, in a rational society that is (that embraces truth, science and objective reality, not religiosity or other fantasies). Surely I could live without bubbles, wars and inflation every decade, couldn’t you? Just ask yourself why it is society is headed backwars, is it really because we need more government in society?
@Sivels No it doesn’t mean that everyone should have the same amount of stuff, but they do have equal access to the purchase of those items. So what type of government would you like? And what would our society be like if businesses had no regulations, rules and taxation?
@jfsfrnd equal rights? You mean everyone should have the same amount of stuff? It is an established fact that private businesses provide whatever there is demand at far higher efficiency and lower prices.
Will obviously no businesses are fully owned since they and the property are subject to regulations and rules as well as taxation, basically make them/us slaves to the government since we work for the government whether we like it or not.
@Sivels What percent of the businesses in a city are privately owned vs publically owned? How can there be equal rights to goods and services if the privately owned businesses are not forced to comply?
@DigitalArtsSociety
Corporation is an entity which is recognized by government as a person, removing liabilities and granting protection from the property owners.
Since corporations are granted legal privilidges by the state, corporation only exists by the will of government.
Good Job Rachel Maddow…..expose all these racist for who they are!!!!
Tea Bagging Rednecks!!!!
@Sivels . Many ( not all ) supporters of the Paul’s preferred the coverage they received on MSNBC to the Fox News Channel. They found out the hard way what Conservatives like myself who support Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann knew for a LONG time about the leftist smear machine.
@boredjoewo
you make too much sense
I love Rand Paul!
Rand paul is a Racist!!! He’s Toast!!!
Looks like Rand got some sleep after being up for 2 straight days.
@bobby200606
You clearly didn’t watch the video.
@bobby200606
Hes not a racist, his position just exposes the extremism in this purist approach to policy and governing that he follows. If private property rights supersede the power of the Government in all forms then Government becomes ineffective and there is nothing stopping what he would view as morally wrong(segregation) from reappearing into public life by means of private institutions.
Its what’s wrong with the R big government argument. Government = Tyranny, Corporation = Freedom
@boredjoewo I’ve seen the video. He never contradicted himself.
The leftist smear machine says he wants to end all civil rights legislation which is BS.
He’s a racist!! He’s toast!!
