You all seem to be a bit confused on what exactly libertarianism is. Let me help clarify this, if I could — Libertarianism is not conservatism, nor is it capitalism. Capitalism and the free market are only incidental products of libertarianism’s primary philosophy of individual freedom. Libertarianism is founded on the principle of individual freedom from coercion (violation of natural rights). That is it. It is a small distinction, perhaps, but an vital one.
@mikelunz Yeah, I’m sick of the ads.That was the whole point of me canceling my cable subscription was because most of the programming is available online commercial free,but not anymore.The corporations are now taking over the web and ruining it with all there advertising.I’LL BUY WHAT THE HELL I WANT TO BUY, I DON’T NEED THESE PEOPLE TRYING TO CRAM THEIR PRODUCTS DOWN MY THROAT.I will specifically not buy or use or watch any product thats advertised in way that interrupts what I’m trying to do
@tru452008 Liberarianism is based on the thought of free market allways being the best way to do things, because competition lowers the prices. My point was to criticize the thought of free market, since the market aren’t truly free because of the huge companies that are already there. I’m not a socialist so I reckon that the market economy is the way to go, but somethings are done better and cheaper by government than private sector.
@tru452008 The thought of capitalism is that the price should be what the consumers are willing to pay for the products. But because the huge companies have monopolies or perhaps oligopolies, they can set the prices of the products. Smaller businesses could sell the same products cheaper, but then the huge ones can lower the prices and soon the competitors die. And after that the prices go up again. So long as the prices aren’t too high for the consumers they still are willing to buy the products.
@KalleSuomalainen All 3 of the companies you name are well run/sound businesses that make us all better off. Without Wall Mart most things we buy would be much more expensive. It may be right that they drive small businesses out but its because they out compete them. Is that not what the USA and Capitalism were founded on…
@tru452008 Really I’m reality supports my arguments perfectly, economists may disagree but history has shown how small they know. I’ve really read economics quite a lot, but that is only theory. In relity giving tax cuts to the rich doesen’t help the economy as much as giving it to middle class or starting government projects thus making jobs. You want examples for large companies killing small ones? How about Wall Mart, 7/11 and McDonalds.
@KalleSuomalainen Take a basic microeconomics class at the college level and you’ll know why there’s so much incorrect with your comment. Never compare capitalism to communism, they’re nothing alike. And without the huge companies producing cheap products everything would be crazy expensive. Give me one example of a large cooperation driving every competitor out of business in a field and raising their prices. Small businesses go out of business because they are inefficient or expensive.
@EvanBHenry I reckon laizzez-faire capitalism is just as naive as communism. It may sound gorgeous but reality is very different. Small businesses can’t compete with huge corporation. When company get’s huge enough, it can place the prices so low that the small competitor businesses will slowly die out. And when competition goes away it raises the prices of products again. So markets may be free, but you must have a ton of money if you want to compete with huge corporations that are already there.
Exactly evan. With fewer taxes, competing rates for private schools, and support for homeschooling, costs go down, scores go up, and personal responsibility and freedom reign.
I like to make 1.5 trillion worth of cuts to your mother vagina, unless she got a 12 inch cock. fucking Libtard stay away from my page fucking scumbag/hermaphrodite,just like your mama!!!!!!!!!

@busbee85 my sentiments exactly. In fact, we should all organize an advertisement boycott.
@duncanhunter2008 hey, shut up. These two are having a friendly chat, largely focused on comedy. Get a grip, moron.
david letterman seems like nearly an evil type of person. Very spiteful.

@Russia1130
WTF? Did you come and find me on this message board to respond to something I said on a different message board? Creepy.
By the way, I’m not a liberal.

@KalleSuomalainen The facts disagree with you. But please don’t let that get in your way.
I like that Letterman isn’t worried to let his guests know he doesn’t agree with them.
Letterman = typical limousine liberal

@KalleSuomalainen Sounds like a excellent thought to me. That’s exactly what Libertarians have been asking for for the past century.
@EvanBHenry How about making the tax money go to things that are beneficial to taxpayers, not to trillion dollar wars overseas.
Exactly evan. With fewer taxes, competing rates for private schools, and support for homeschooling, costs go down, scores go up, and personal responsibility and freedom reign.
@KalleSuomalainen With the money you’ll have that will no longer be stolen from you by a parasitic government bureaucracy.
@EvanBHenry Rand Paul wants even education be really private. So how poor people educate their children, if there’s no public schools at all?
