Why is it not news that Social Security will go down for the very first time under a DEMOCRAT?
For literally 35 years the Democrats have campaigned by threatening that Republicans "will take away your Social Security" yet for the very first time in history Social Security recipients will not get cost-of-living adjustments, at least for the next two years. So it took a Democrat President and Democratic Congress to deliver what they threatened Republicans might someday due. This should be bigger news.
Cost of living adjustments are linked to inflation. Since there has been no inflation…there’s no adjustment.
The reason the SS payment is decreasing (instead of just staying the same) is because the Medicare Perscription Drug plan cost is expected to rise slightly, and this payment is automatically deducted from SS payments.
If the Republicans hadn’t blocked the Medicare Perscription Drug plan from having the ability to negotiate for lower drug costs, we likely wouldn’t be having this discussion now.

No doubt FOX news will cover this a lot more carefully than say MSNBC will.
I also find it just plain insulting that they through it out on a SUNDAY when no one watches or even cares about the news.
It’s not going down. The social security administration controls this based on the cost of living analysis.

If you read the article correctly, you would have read that it is illegal for social security to decrease. We received a 5.8% increase this past January thanks to Barack, a record breaker, so we don’t mind no increase for 2 years. It’s called being an American and times are rough because of Bush, instead of reporting incorrect information on Y/A, of all places.
