What will be the defining issue of the 2012 presidential election?
Besides Obama’s comment about the Cambridge police department, which will probably be deserving of 2 or 3 debates devoted solely to it. Of the other possible issues, what will be the most important in 2012 and into whose favor will it play?
Either Obama’s "Mom jeans" or his choice of mustard.
The RNC is still making up its mind.
Plus their perennial favorite: Flag pins.
Economics
The way Obama has destroyed America.And it will help the GOP,because he will be voted out.
Inflation, I don’t see it helping obama.
The economy, taxes and the failure of Obamacare.

That Cambridge issue will be ancient and forgotten history by the end of this year let alone 2012.
Who knows what the main issue will be. Probably the economy maybe health care.
Maybe some unforseen issue that we haven’t thought of yet.
Politics can be fickle. It changes and evolves. A week can be an eternity in the political game and that isn’t an exaggeration.
Nobody really cares about that Cambridge thing now, why would they care in 3.5 years?
Everything Obama does, says, wants, tries–everything–the Republicans go into full outrage mode. Smears and fears are the biggest weapon they have, but they’re not working for them like they used to. The party is entirely out of ideas, and you can’t built a successful presidential bid on just phony Obama outrage
The defining issue of 2012 will be whether the voters think Obama has made progress on the economy. They won’t care about his stupid birth certificate or the comment about the police in Cambridge, or whether he uses a teleprompter or his middle name or whether he’s not white enough or not black enough. The question will be: "Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?"
A bit too early to determine that isn’t it? I can’t believe that its only 2009 and Republicans are already lining up at the starting line for 2012 and even contemplating which topics to discuss. However I guess they’ll need all the time they can get to mount a proper defense so their sacrificial lamb doesn’t tarnish the GOP’s image any more.
It will be something we can’t even imagine now.
In elections, it always is. All the campaign planning in the world can’t predict what will be going on in 2012!
International servitude.
The Dems have committed themselves to bowing to other nations. They apologize as if they have no love of our nation.
We have made our fair share of mistakes, but that should be kept in-house, and not paraded around like a flag. Obama is like his wife – never proud of our nation.
This will set the stage for the Repubs to make a real gain in 2010 and 2012, since they want our nation to be really free of international opinion, not pandering to it.
I would imagine some people will still be debating his eligibility to be President. Other than that, my crystal ball is broken. For all we know, it could be an invasion from Mars. three and a half years is a long time, especially in such volatile times.
The failure of universal health care and the economy under Obama’s administration.
Don’t be silly, the debates are 3 years away, this mindset is goldfish short. So much will happen between now and then that hardly anyone will remember the Cambridge thing. It kinda shows you up, saying something like that.
The main issue will be, as ever, the economy.
Government over spending and fiscal responsibility.

I don’t think those comments will have anything to do with the election in 2012 except among people who hate Obama to began with. That is three years away and people who keep it alive that long will look like morons.
These same people spent weeks and weeks on race-baiting issues before the Nov 4th election to no avail.
I think the economy and health care will be the most important issues.
