What really is a Republican or a Democrat?
I know this question is pretty much common sense, but what are they really? You hear conservatives, liberals, republicans, and democrats all the time, but what do they really mean, and what does each group really believe in generally. I’m really confused with this and would like to know what really is a republican or a Democrat?
Both of the major parties have changed so much in the past few decades (not to mention from when they were founded) that it is hard to determine what they really stand for. They each have a platform, but neither one seems to follow it. It seems that their only real goal is to stay in power or to get power.
Historically, the Democrats were formed in the early 19th century by anti-Federalists whose main goals were related to states rights and reducing the power of the Federal government. The Republican party was formed shortly before the civil war and their early issues concerned ending slavery, getting free land for people who wanted to move west, and getting the vote for women.
It seems to me like the parties both did a major flip.
When I vote, I look at each candidate individually and ignore their party. It does take a lot of work, but I look at it as hiring someone to run our government and I want to make sure we get someone who will do a great job.
An American.
A Republican is a Democrat without compassion.
A Republican might not raise taxes and will let you keep your freedom for sure.
A Democrat(Marxist) will for sure raise your taxes and try to control your life as much as possible without you even knowing it.
