What is the difference between a democrat and a republican?
I know they are two different political parties, but what is the main big difference? Also, is Obama a republican or democrat?
Is there a chance that if McCain is elected then there will be a draft?
Im 14 so im a bit worried about that.
thanks =]]]]
look at 8 years clinton look at 8 years bush that will explain the difference.
Recently a lengthy book was published on this subject. It has hundreds of graphs showing the statistically significant differences bwetween Dems and Reps. Eg, Democrats are only 75% as likely to be judged as fairly or very intelligent by reviewers for the National Election Studies (1996-2004, based on about 4500 cases). Dems are alot less likely to have a 4-year college degree, but about equally likely as Reps to have a post grad degree (and among women, Dems are more likely to have a post grad degree). Reps contribute far more to charity, even after controlling for income differences (an estimated 56 billion more per year). Dems are more likely to have multiple sex partners, but they are also more likely to have zero sex partners. Dems are much less happy for 3 reasons, according to the book: they feel less control over their lives, they are less trusting, and they suspect capitalism is inherently unfair. I could go on and on. The book is Democrats and Republicans – Rhetoric and Reality, and I think the author is joseph fried.
If this is a serious question and you are really 14, then you should get your answers somewhere other than here.
This site is mostly made of republican trolls who wait for people like you so they can confuse you or eat you.
But the differences are really simple.
Republicans think that babies should be able to inherit wealth at birth, giving some babies an unfair advantage over others.
This keeps the rich rich and the poor poor.
They will tell you tales of how you can be rich like them if you follow their rules but it won’t work.
Democrats tell you something very similar so don’t trust them either.
Just remember that democrats will sometimes let a little person get ahead but don’t bet on it.
Only Socialists speak the truth. Babies should all be given $500 and a banjo at birth, that’s all. Only eaqual babies, eaqual opportunity.
If we ever need a draft it doesn’t matter what party is in the Presidents seat, the draft will be reinstated.
Obama is a Marxist which is a version of socialism (although he currently appears to be espousing a type of "Christian Socialism" an oxymoron).
McCain is a RINO (republican in name only). He actually acts like a Independent most of the time.
A republican believes a man should take care of his household.
A democrat believes a republican should take care of his/her (2men/2women) household, hut, or village.
About 4 tax brackets
There is no difference. None. Nada. Zilch. Zero.
Obama is a dem. Its a good possibility that either Obama or McCain will try to reinstate the draft.
What concerns me is that a 14 year old is worried about that.
I also know that 14 year old are pretty astute (smart) and aware of their surroundings.
Check out this video:
Republicans love America. Democrats hate America and have friends like William Ayers.
Well to get to the root of the problem you have to consider who runs each party.
The Republicans are run by a bunch of rich folks, that are proud of being rich. They don’t want the gov’t doing anything that might cost them money.
The Democrats are run by a bunch of rich folks, that feel guilty about being rich. They don’t feel guilty enough to give away their money, so they want to tax the heck out of the "middle class" to pay for social programs to ease their guilt.
Both party’s seem to pretty much define the "middle class" as those that don’t have loads of money to pay lobbyists and donate to their campaigns. Neither side gives a darn about the "middle class" despite their constant BS about who is more "in touch" with them.
As to a draft, not likely. In this day and age even if a politition actually wanted it, and none seem to really want one, it’d be tied up in courts an appeals till you are way too old to get drafted. IE : is it gender based discrimination if they only drafted males?
A democrat is more cosmopilitan than a republican.
Republicans want pride that their politician is "someone small-town like me who becomes wealthy without any help from government"
"someone who tells me govenment isn’t expensive and I would like to drink a beer with before church every sunday"
First major difference:
Democrats are evil, whereas Republicans fight for the Force.
Seriously, politicians are not all different from each other, it’s all corrupt. What really matters is the individual.
Obama’s a democrat, so you know it’s all downhill from there. The few reasons he’s so popular with the media are that he’s the first of recent "black" politicians to (gasp) actually speak English and not ebonics. That and he’s such a smooth talker, promising hope and change and welfare and big government programs (which will lead us into more of an economic sinkhole; the government does not make its own money, so where do you think the funding for all those big propositions will come from? That’s right, us.).
McCain is not a great choice for president either, but at least we will be safe from Obama’s Communistic ideals. The situation in Iraq won’t change much with the new president, and no one seriously believes there will be a draft during the next president’s term.
yes, McCain will bring back the draft he will need it to do all he wants to do. He is a republican. You can remember (r) for republican/rich. They want the big companies to get advantages…..Obama is the republican & he is for the 95% of the country which means he is for us all but knows people need to be able to function or it costs us more in the long run. (d) democrat/downtrodden so they are for the poor but by caring for the poor it helps us all.
Dear 14 year old,
Republican – Conservative (McCain/Palin)
Democrat – Liberal (Obama/Biden)
Democrats wanted to restart the military
draft, but Republicans put a stop to that.
McCain said he would NOT have a draft.
5-year old learns the difference between Democrat and Republican party
as told by her Grandmother.
Ava – one of my granddaughters – told me that she wanted to be President
one day. Both of her parents, liberal democrats, were standing there
with us – and I asked Ava – "If you were President what would be the
first thing you would do?" Ava replied – "I would give houses and food
to all the homeless people." "Wow – what a worthy goal you have there
Ava." I told her, "You don’t have to wait until you’re President to do
that, you can come over to my house and clean up all the dog poop in the
back yard and I will pay you $5 dollars. Then we can go over to the
grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the
$5 dollars to use for a new house and food." Ava (who is 5 years old)
thought that over for a second, and Ava replied, "why doesn’t the
homeless guy come over and clean up the dog poop and you can pay him the $5 dollars."
Ava, welcome to the Republican Party.
first off obama is a socialist.running as a democrat..
republicans see the world as it is.
democrats see what they want to see.
how else could they support a person that can’t be given the information needed to make the decisions a president must make

obama is the only candidate that wants to reinstate the draft..for his war against Russia..he stated this in last weeks PBS interview
Nothing, it’s just a false left right paradigm used to get the masses to blame their opposing political parties, rather than the government itself.
The Republicans and the Democrats are the two major political parties in the USA. Most politicians belong to one or the other party.
The two parties are much more similar than they are different. The differences include: Democrats favor big government and government solutions to most problems; Republicans favor a smaller, less intrusive government. Democrats tend to favor higher taxes and a very progressive tax system; Republicans tend to favor lower taxes and a somewhat flatter system. Democrats tend to hold that founding documents such as the Constitution should be re-interpreted by more modern standards; Republicans tend to hold that the Constitution should be read more literally. Republicans are more likely than Democrats to hold that people are responsible for their own actions and their own success; Democrats are more likely than Republicans to say that society has a large effect on your actions and your success or failure. Democrats tend to favor a more socialist society; Republicans, a less socialist one. Democrats tend to be more socially liberal; Republicans, more conservative. Extremist Democrats want to control how you think; extremist Republicans, what you do.
Don’t worry about the draft. The last time it was proposed (by a couple of Democrats) it was quickly shot down.
Disclaimer: I’m a conservative. I tried to make this as non-partisan as possible. I am also absolutely delighted that you are showing an interest in politics at your age. My advice to you is: keep it up, stay informed, decide what issues are important to you, determine which party’s position is most in line with yours, and when you’re old enough, vote that way.
