i reckon Bill Clinton was really more of a liberal Republican. most of his economic policies are based on Republican thoughts (NAFTA, limited government, etc.)
Yes
Lincoln Chaffee (Ex-R) or Arlen Specter (Ex-R) or the Maine Senators
Most Democrats in West Virginia or Arkansas
There are people all over the political spectrum.
There are more conservative Democrats though, because Limbaugh kicked all of the liberal republicans out of the party.
No, as one of my favorite politicians used to say, " If you agree with me 80 % of the time, you’re my friend." (Ronald Reagen).
There are some slang terms in politics that refer to moderate Democrats and Republicans ( blue Dogs), but, it is normal not to agree with EVERYTHING a party advocates.
Americans don’t realize that the Republican and Democrat parties are POLITICAL parties, meaning there are a variety of competing interests in them ( the NRA in the Republican)
For example, I am a registered Republican, but I consider myself a moderate conservative politically.
It’s hypothetically possible yes.
Yes.. Republicans in NY is liberal, Democrats in the south is Conservative.
Common sense is not an issue in politics; it’s an affliction.
Yes there is.
They used to be called Dixiecrats or Southern Democrats.
Some still exist. And, yes, although it is very rare there are liberal
Republicans.
I am a Democrat with conservative views: pro-life, being against gay marriage but I always vote for the Dem.
Yes, there is such a thing. In fact, you will hear it all the time when they talk about the house and senate members voting on bills.
Of course it is possible to be either one.
If the majority of your views fall in the moderate range of the Democratic party and your others are more conservative, then you would be a conservative Democrat. If the majority of your views fall in line with the moderate range of the Republican party and the rest are more liberal, then you would be a liberal Republican. If you are like me and have views that are all over the political spectrum you are either Independent, third party, or unaffiliated. I personally choose unaffiliated.
Yes.
But, I reckon Conservative Democrats are really Republicans that have distress crossing party lines.
Liberal Republicans might agree with some Democratic philosophies but have high moral values which would keep them out of the Democrat Party.
Yes, there are Conservative Democrats, they are called "Blue Dog Democrats"

A liberal republican is probably a Libertarian. Socially liberal, but fiscally conservative. Not all would fit though.
I’m a republican who agrees with some views held by democrats. I consider myself a moderate republican, not a liberal republican.
Consider yourself beholden to no one party. As I do, let policy and ones actions be your proof that they represent your beliefs. Party alone assures nothing anymore. Politicians will likely tell us anything to make us vote for them, so observe how they act, who they associate with and the policies they support when no one is watching.
Yes, of course!
Conservative means traditional, keeping the status quo, in political means.
Liberal means progressive, open to a lot of change, ready for progress, in political means.
The Democratic and Republican parties are political parties based on a system of beliefs. It’s just that Democrats tend to be more liberal and Republicans more conservative, but that doesn’t mean they can’t switch.
What you describe is a conservative Democrat, being against gay marriage is not liberal in any way.
take into an account that there are other political partys then repubs & dems…
and a republican with liberal views is more like a libertarian
In this world we know what the different political parties say their members should reckon and do. If you don’t agree with them then you must be Independent. Don’t agonize, do what you feel.
Yes there are..
Republicans are "pro-life" ?????
They are anti-choice….they are very much anti-people
There is NOTHING pro-life about the party of pain, misery and death
No. I am a democrat. I am not a socialist. I do not believe "You Owe Me". I refused to leave the party my parents fought for despite the fact that it is no longer the party my parents fought for, because it is unethical to leave your party or country to the very people you disagree with.
Our young democrats are being used for a socialist agenda. Why would I leave them to that?
I am a democrat. Ancient-style. Free speech, even for Republican talk radio. Free expression, even for Fundamentalist Christians. Free press, even for Fox News. Equality, even for white men.
I’m none of the above, (part white). My family fled Islam before I was born, so I am NOT against the war. My family wondered when everyone would get a clue (They still haven’t).
No. A lot of people would probably like if I was an independent. I vote the most ethical and least socialist candidate every election. Wish the rest of them would. I’m tired of seeing my party used for this crud.
Don’t tie yourself to a party if you don’t have too! I am a registered Republican but I try to vote the person, not the party. I tend to side with Republicans but I do also vote Democrat. Just voting say..Democrat no matter what as one person said above me is a waste of a vote; especially if you don’t agree with anything that candidate stands for except the D/R behind their name!!
It’s pretty much your choice. You can consider yourself Independent with more conservative or liberal views or you can consider yourself a moderate conservative or moderate liberal.
Eh, not really. Liberal Republican and Conservative Democrat are oxymoron’s.
go to ontheissues.com and take the vote match quiz
Conservative Democrats can be found in Louisiana
Liberal Republicans can be found in New York, hint 2 republican senators in Maine are liberal.
Back in the days of FDR and Harry Truman conservative democrats were in for the people of America and republicans were some northerners out for the rich people and people financially sucessful in business and was going to take money and food from middle class people to support them.
Other than that Conservative Democrats and Liberal Republicans are nearly a thing of the past.

P.S. FDR, Harry Truman, and Andrew Jackson would turn over in their graves seeing how their party has turned out!
