Is there a difference between a Socially Liberal Republican and a Fiscally Conservative Democrat?
"Moderate" Voters don’t have a major political party since we are ran by a two party system. And I’m starting to believe that there really isn’t a difference between a Republican who is pro-life and supports gay marriage and a Democrat who is fiscally conservative like the Blue Dog Coalition in the House.
If there isn’t really any difference and if Americans are increasingly progressive in social issues yet economically responsible (since our debt is so high), is the line between Democrat and Republican not very big?
Google: Federal Reserve, CFR, Trilateral Comission, Bilderberg.
It’ll explain many things. Two sides, one coin.
It’s a small difference.
Like the difference between a gay Democrat and a straight Republican.
Yes…they deduct IQ points for calling yourself any type of Republican.
A socially liberal republican and a fiscally conservative democrat is called a "libertarian".
I don’t really understand the point of being a fiscally conservative Democrat, since one of the main principles of the Democratic party is supporting social democracy. It’s rather contradictory to oppose spending on welfare programs and call yourself a Democrat.

I would support the Blue Dogs but they are in the same party as Pelosi, Reid, Franks, Dodd, Waters, Obama, Hillary, Boxer, Feinstein, et al… and I will have NO associations with those people.
If all the people that were fiscally responsible and socially liberal were to start a party… I would be on board.
ETA— I do support Libertarians… but there are things that I disagree with them on…. not to mention the fact that they have been around for 30+ years and have yet to make an impact in our country.
I think the Republicans are called So-Cons.
Social deals with issues like abortion and such
Fiscally means money handling.
Socially Liberal Republican is really mixed up and belives in abortion but wants States to be in charge of key issues.
Fiscally Conservative Dem means less spending, but still wants the government to be the one spending it.
Most of the People you are describing are Independents
A Republican, Socially Liberal or otherwise, is still going to vote the Party Line no matter what (except for maybe Ron Paul).
