How do you explain to a young adult the difference between a Democrat and a Republican?
During the 2008 US Presidential Election, you will have many young adults between the ages of 18 and 22 voting for President for their very first time. Although votiing for president is an important civic duty, it is also important that a young adult knows what the difference between a Democrat and a Repulican is.
How do you explain to a young adult who is voting for their first time the difference between a Democrat and a Republican?
You don’t, you let them read up on the issues and make their own decisions. Thats what free will is all about. I am all for EDUCATED voters.
If you are 18 and do not yet know the difference between democrat and republican then you should have paid more attention in school. I’m 19. I think if a 22 year old came up to me and asked me the difference I would just walk away probably laughing to myself and rolling my eyes.
Democrats want everyone to have an education and a shot at living the American dream.
The Republicans are about big BIG buisness and , to paraphrase them ”The rest of you losers can go work at Wal Mart!"

Those who vote at 18 are as informed as they want to be. They don’t just wake up the morning of their 18th birthday and decide they will vote, they’ve been waiting for it for years.
Contrary to popular belief, both parties are right of center, but the Democrats are not as right-wing as the Republicans. Democrats are more concerned about the environment, poverty, education and in the last 15 years, have also proven to be a lot more fiscally responsible than Republicans. Republicans were a much better party before the neocons took over.
You explain it like this, Your a Democrat, when your young and dumb, and get an allowance. When you get older and wiser and have children, and give them an allowance, you are a Republican.
