Are you a democrat, a republican or an independent and why? What party are you registered to vote under?
I am from a family that is part democrat, part republican and part independent. I have grown up in a family that has bickered and fought over politics with conservative views and liberal viewpoints. What party are you registered to vote under and why? Thanks for your answers.
I’ll be quite honest. I voted for Clinton back in the 90′s … but voted Republican in the last elections because of the way the extreme left has ‘hijacked’ the Democratic party. If JFK were somehow ‘magically’ transformed from ’63 to now – and was still young and running for office, he would not be a Democrat. The party has changed so much over the years, you wouldn’t recognize it. The country has been infiltrated by Progressive Liberals who wish to tear the fabric of our free society apart and replace it with European Socialism. George Soros and MoveOn.org are still leading the charge for the Democratic Party, so I can no longer call myself a "Democrat." Does that make me a "Republican?" No. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. I don’t trust anyone in politics anymore. I’m Independent.
That said, I think it’s time we started voting on the issues, not the party lines, and having our leaders sign an oath before they take office. If they break any campaign promise – like Obama has done numerous times since his election, like George Bush Sr did (no new taxes) – if ANYONE breaks their campaign promises, they are to be removed immediately from their position for breaking their ‘oath’ to the American public. They lied – they have no place serving as leader of the free world.

The party of no more Representative govt or Republic of the few!
I’d like to see citizens with full legislative power for replacement.
Representative govt is more of a problem regardless of ANY party affiliation and name then it is a solution for a better society that accurately refects public will correctly.
If the citizens want real "Change" in our country we must take it back under a True daily direct Democracy Of/by/for the citizens on a daily direct basis!
Trust can never be allowed into the hands of the few again. Phony elections & secret once in a blue moon voting must correctly be reformed under a new govt with full legislative power in the hands of the citizens over money/business.govt.
If you don’t understand why big business gets everything they want,your missing the angle of the colaborating corruption between corporate business & govt. Put it this way wouldn’t you like to have some direct say over the society/laws you live in from a legal stand point. Currently you do NOT.
3 founding fathers wanted the American citizens to have a direct Democracy instead of the current Republic of, they were Henry,Jeffereson, and Paine. The reason to prevent run-away govt.
I grew up in a conservative family. My mother is a hardcore democrat (thats what her parents were so its good enough for her!) but she normally votes straight ticket republican. My father is a republican. When I registered to vote on my 18th birthday, I registered republican. In national elections, I have always voted republican. In local elections, Ive strayed over to the democrat side from time to time. I have NEVER not voted. Not voting is anathema in my family, its simply not an option.
With the last presidential election, I really struggled. Ron Paul was one of my more favored candidates, and I voted for him in the primary. After McCain was nominated, I waited a week to calm down. Then I marched down to the voting office and changed my party registration to independent. In Florida, this means I cant vote in the primaries. Its worth it to me. In my opinion, Republicans and Democrats are steering this country down the same road, it’s just Democrats are doing it faster and more efficiently.
And for the record, in the presidental election I did not vote for McCain. I voted for Palin.
I consider myself a libertarian; I am not registered as any party. Why should I be?
I’m registered as an independent, I don’t think I’m genuinely represented by either platform in our two party system. This automatically kicks me into being the "conservative" one in my family, because mostly everyone else takes a hard left stance. I’m just more of a political-idealist, I might become a libertarian.
You could say I have a conservative view here- I’m very prosecution-oriented and am in generally sympathetic to the police force. I’m also a strong supporter of a harsher punitive system, including capitol punishment.
I have a more libertarian view of foreign policy, and adopt a fairly isolationist stance. I’m against this war, and am unsympathetic on most free trade issues as well, especially when its not economically beneficial on a mass scale- as my support of worker’s rights is one of the cornerstones of my belief system.
I don’t have any particular sympathy for drug use and for the rampant distribution of pornography, and am open to enforcing laws against it. I’d say I’m with the republicans on this.
I’m very hard on big business. REGULATION is my middle name. You wouldn’t get my vote unless I felt you could be a corporate watchdog. I embrace classic bluecollar democratic thinking here.
I’d say I am fiscally moderate. We need to be spending with more care and precision, but I emphasize going through with a scalpel and not a hatchet. Social programs regarding health I think are indispensable. So are benefits and protection for people who have served their country. I also believe in investing in education and humanities. I think this populist.
I’m always liberal on the basic human rights issues. I’ve support a woman’s right to choose, though not state-funded abortions. I believe there needs to be reformation on our awareness and prevention of domestic violence and child abuse. I believe its a human rights violation to stand in the way of same-sex marriage. And though I’m not for affirmative action, I believe in increase of awareness of opprotunities for minorities. And the encouragement of learning Spanish as a second language on the job.
I’m progressive and curious about environmental conservation, and do believe in the recognition of animal rights, and intolerance for animal cruelty. So I have green party sympathies too.
