That’s Nice, Sparky–but I’d like to hear the opinion of someone whose credentials include something Beyond one-term Senate seat…and probably in a forum that doesn’t entail an old scavenged set from a college TV studio
You have got to go mainstream cenk. You need to have more people ear what you are saying. You don’t smear when you are talking about something serious. You tell it how it is. You tell the people what is going on, and you tell iit in a way people can understand.
Republicans do the same thing only their audience is borderline mental so they smear in a way that their audience can understand and in a way that makes it look like their policies are better when they barely talk about issues to begin!!
What made America a Superpower was the same thing that made Britain, Rome, Greece, and Persia before it great. Imperialism. When America was at the height of its glory, its empire was expansive, now not so much.
You’re right. We don’t need the police, fire department, and public schools that are all funded by the government. I think we should all start a rag tag police force a fight crime in Compton. Hopefully we won’t get shot.
I wont argue with you about your views on social programs-we wont agree, so I wont go there…
But opinion poll after opinion poll show that the country does favor more progressive policies its just that:
A.1/2 the country doesnt vote.
B.The media gives those positions little attention because they harm the elite.
C.And the issues that most the country IS right-center on-like gay marrigage, often take the front seat over important ones (becuase us Americans are typically stupid).
Are we free? Isaiah Berlin wrote of 2 freedoms. Negative liberty is freedom f/ interference from other people. Positive liberty is having the power & resources to fulfill your potential. Most people without health care are deprived of + liberty.
How else should we fix this problem? People have to be able to afford healthcare. Every other country does it & spends LESS.
I wasn’t aware that thousands dying every year because they can’t obtain insurance was an indication of just how free we are!
Because we are a free country with free men and women. We dont need the government to do anything for us. Take a look at the history of this great nation and what made us a superpower. The spirit of the individual is what made us great, not everybody depending on government programs. Stop thinking of what feels good and really do some thinking. How can we pay for this. Do you know how much money we borrow for the programs we already have. More govt programs, more taxes. More taxes less freedom.
The reason they are standing in your way is because most of the country is NOT PROGRESSIVE! Dont let the Bush years fool you, America is still a Center Right country.
HA HA HA!!! Come on! You know I am not acting like that guy in the Holocaust museum.
They are standing in our way- and what I mean by that is that they have too many right wing wing nuts(including blue dog corporate dems) in congress who have been blocking progressive policies for a very long time…if we can just bring the the other 50% of voters woh don’t vote to the polls we may be able to get their crazy leaders out of power.
You hit the point right on…I hope this country starts acting more like yours…I just wish we didnt have right wing nuts like donottake standing in our way.
Its a damn shame, isn’t it? Every other rich nation covers everyone. We spend twice as much as some of those countries & still leave 50 million w/o coverage (and who knows how many underinsured). 18,000 die yearly b/c they can’t afford care. And insurance companies roll in the dough. You’re definitely right about A. and B. and that’s why I’m afraid change will be hard. I can’t believe some of these so-called Democrats…I thought they’d at least allow the public option. Money rules all, I guess.
Why the hell does this have so little views!?
@assassinmakidoo He actually may have those credentials for that job! lol
Obama must plant some weed.

“If you’ve got a Republican senator, sad day for you.” Nice Cenk

I agree with Cenk as well but saying “standing in our way” is sort of scary to me. Calm down lest you become like that guy from the Holocaust museum.
If he passes a bill without a public option, they are done for,we will fight him, period.
I can’t lie, that comment was funny as hell
I know right? It’s a joke.
You got thumbs down for this? What a bunch of partisin pussys. Obama is rebranded republican trash.Period.
You hit the point right on…I hope this country starts acting more like yours…I just wish we didnt have right wing nuts like donottake standing in our way.
Where’s the link to this story? It sounds like bullshit to me!
Maybe donotake can beat him!
