I think what ppl generally appreciate about her fashion choices is that she’s not afraid to mix less expensive brands with designer names. She’s been rocking a lot of JCrew’s catalog and I think the "common" woman likes that. Personally, I thought the outfit Isabel Toledo designed for her was quite lacking. Great color, but it didn’t really work out for Michelle’s frame. And I was rather surprised to see her choose the Jason Wu frock. I didn’t think it was age appropriate.
I have yet to come across a borderline amazing outfit/gown.
I think people should stop being superficial and not worry about her clothes.
i dont like her fashion at all. ;( i havent heard anything about her being a fashion icon
michelle dresses herself. she has no stylist.
because of this she is considered a fashion icon
i mostly agree with you, but i think that people today are obsessed with what people wear… and you know, if michelle doesn’t have a good fashion sense, so what? it’s her choice. granted, she could be more fashion forward, but if she thinks she looks good, so what? hope it helps! :]
Some people compare her style to Jackie Kennedy. I think her choices are good, no real fashion flops, but she dresses like a first lady should.

She dresses well for her body. Her clothes flatter her and are appropriate for a first lady. I agree its nothing amazing, but I don’t think a first lady should be fierce. Do you think Jackie O was fierce? Not really. But she was an icon for sure.
.I really liked the camel & black outfit, but the rest???
She really needs to find a designer who knows how to flatter a 6ft, 175 lb figure. She has regal dimensions, and a need to accentuate her attributes. Not put a spotlight on the faults.
