What is a more 5th grade understandable way of saying the good and bad things about McCain and Obama?
aka, what are the pros and cons? in in grade 5 so I don’t really understand the other things on the internet. What are the pros and cons of Barack Obama and John McCain?
OBAMA
pros
1. Inspirational
2. Very smart. Came from nothing and made a name for himself, and eventually brought himself to the highest office without any family ties or help. (not to mention also being an african American growing up in the late 60′s-early 70′s)
3. Did not take money from companies when running for president. Only accepted money from individual citizens who wanted to donate. (means he has no ties to outside companies)
4. Very different from Bush, which is what people were looking for,
5. Has good, unique ideas…believes the gov can be a good support in people’s lives.
cons
1. Has very little experience.
2. Never served in the military.
3. Some people believe his great speechs blind people from the fact that he has not been in many high power positions.
4. Him believing government can be a support means he will make government bigger. (give them more power).
MCCAIN
pros
1. Was a war hero
2. Has A LOT of experience. Has been in the Congress 27 years.
3. Has a reputation of working with both Democrats and Republicans to get things done.
4. Has been a great Senator and is loved by people from Arizona (the state he represents)
cons
1. He believes in a lot of the same policies as George W. Bush, which people did not like during the election.
2. Wanted to stay in Iraq for a long time. (arguable whether you think this is good or bad but hurt him in the election)
3. Very old. People were afraid we would be too old to be on top of everything that needs to be done as president. He seemed a little out of touch from current world. Said things like ‘i don’t work computers’ and that he didn’t know how many houses he owned.
4.Picked a vice-presidental candidate that was not trusted to take over if anything should happen to him. His pick had less experience than Obama and seeing as he is so old, he could possibly have died in office.
These were just what I can think of and some people disagree. It is the reason Obama won, although I like both guys a lot!

Sweetheart, if I were to give you a good answer it would be to stop looking back, many people want us to do that, but when you look back, you miss what’s going on in front of you.
The only thing that is crucial to our survival as a country right now is what is happening right now.
Pay very close attention to the laws, and bills, and constitutional changes that are going on as we speak.
Pay attention to the money we are printing out of thin air, and all the money we are borrowing from enemies like China to pay for programs we have no money for.
