What did Obama decide concerning troops to Afghanistan?
I heard last week that Obama was finally going to announce on Friday the 30th of October his decision about whether or not he would send more troops to Afghanistan. What was the verdict with that? Any articles about it?
Thanks.
/sigh. Obama should listen to military officials who know what they’re talking about!
1. The Founders provided the military with civilian control for a reason. Let’s not undo what’s worked for 234 years. The military is a tool. The civilians we elect are the hand that holds it.
2. The U.S. can’t commit troops to a country with no functioning government. Since Abdullah pulled out of the runoff, it’s anybody’s guess if Afghanistan is going to erupt in civil war or not. Karzai seems to have no control outside of Kabul. About the best we can hope for is to go it alone without the blessings of the Afghani government which means that they’d be coming at us from all sides.
No decision, still dithering.
No decision yet. Still waiting for the poll numbers to come in so he knows how to make the world love him more. He is also trying to get more camera time out of it.
I think that he is doing nothing..
Which seems to be normal in Washington unless HE initiates the program, and then it becomes urgent..
He is right now and He will make sure If they go into Harm’s Way they ill be Protected something needs to be done there.
He decided to not decide. The withdrawal of Abdullah from the runoff election has really screwed things up. We cannot support a fake government.
He is still sitting on the fence. I think he will compromise by sending half the troops. In a misguided attempt to make both sides happy. He is an idiot. He is a community organizer, not a leader of the free world.
When he was a Senator he never voted yes or no. He just voted present. Very wishy washy.
