Conservatives, do you support Newt Gingrich’s FEDERAL K-12 Pell Grant program?
I placed emphasis οn FEDERAL bесаυѕе I know cons dont rесkοn thе Feds саn dο anything rіght. Bυt, a conservative, Gingrich hаѕ proposed thіѕ tο allow еνеrу child tο gο аnу school οf hіѕ/hеr choosing whether public οr private.
No. Federal government needs to get out of K-12 completely.
I would have to see a link, but if this is a voucher program I am all for it.
That gives people the freedom to choose what is best for them or for their children. Isn’t that what Liberals claim to be all about?
I like Newt in a amusing sort of way, yerp! i’ll go for that!
There was a 60 minutes article a few months ago that was about paying $135,000 a year to a teacher at charter schools. They worked harder than any other teacher you could imagine. They did 90 to 100 hours a week trying to teach the kids.
In the end, there was no improvement. There will be no improvement until the parents take the first 5 years seriously. When the parents change their tactics, all else will change. And these pell grants won’t work.
First let me say that I agree, Paul Krugman IS an idiot! Nice. I like that.
No, I don’t support Newt. Newt was responsible for opening Social Security Trust fund, allowing Clinton to empty it so that he could have his “balanced budget.” Newt was also responsible for sending to Clinton’s desk NAFTA and WTO — allowing American jobs to go overseas. And wasn’t it Newt who also answered Clinton’s call for “more affordable housing?” Which started this who mortgage and foreclosure “crisis?”
We desegregated the schools back in the late 1950s and they’ve been run into the ground ever since. There is a reason a ghetto is what it is. Doesn’t matter how much money you throw at it. If you want your kids to go to a “better” school, save your pennies and save your dimes and go to a more “upscale” neighborhood. If I wanted my kids to be exposed to and go to school with kids whose parents just don’t give a damn, I’d have stayed in the city.
No, I don’t support Newt. My vote goes to Cain.
