I started reading up on him and found he helped out not only the state of Massachusetts but the Olympic Committee out of the red and into surplus budgets. The only thing I see is he gave up too early the convention isn’t until June. Maybe he was tired.. its not exactly an simple job running around from place to place, shaking hands and worrying about the numbers. Only a few strong hearted people can continue to do it without crying like Hillary.
Probably his being against gay marriage. That’s all I can reckon of. Or perhaps ignorant people thinking that a Mormon would ruin the country. Religion has nothing to do with being there for the country in times of crisis.
The fact that he place 50 mil. dollars of his own money into a campaign for a job that will only pay 400,000.00 per year. Also, he is the huge business that we are all against.
a number of thing just as the democratic party is not the party of Roosevelt & Truman so the republican party has walked away from its conservative roots. Also a lot of votes for McCain were cast by democrats in the states that allow you to pick up what ever ballot you want and then vote.
Because McCain was running alone as the “moderate” candidate. Huckabee and Romney were both vying for the conservative vote. If it had been Huckabee who had pulled out instead of Rudy, it would have been very different. Giuliani and McCain would have split the moderate vote and Romney would have walked away with the conservative votes. It’s just the way the cards were dealt. It does leave us, right conservatives, with a problem though. No one to vote for.
ADD To Princess: We are not all AGAINST huge business. Some of us know that they are necessary to our economy. Who exactly is going to use millions of people if there are no huge businesses? Maybe you should go back to your high school econ class now.
For me the debates. I was for him until the debate where he refused to answer 3 questions.
I haven’t liked him since. I then went to Huckabee, (whom I had liked all along but had favored Romney.)
He and Ancient Fred Thompson was slow out of the gate. Mitts been ( his Dad Gov of Mich) around politics to much to be that lackadaisical about running. He should of came on like gang busters and let the heathens Allah sort out the chaff.
The robotic presence, and the way he changed positions on *everything* except being a Mormon and wanting to be president. Lots of stupid small lies, lots of missteps.
Mitt Romney himself. This conservative never believe he was the “conservative” candidate no matter how neatly his hair was combed or how much he tried to convince me. Uh, Uh, not going there Mitt.
I might add it helped when Thompson pulled out and a bunch of us Thompson supporters threw in with Huckabee. And there is NO way, that any of the Thompson supporters I know would have gone from Huckabee to Romney. . . we would have died first.
I liked Mitt Romney and was disappointed that he chose to suspend his campaign.
He failed to gain support of the Independents and the Evangelical Christians who may have had misgivings about supporting a Mormon. He was also a virtual unknown. I know that when I am voting and am faced with a bunch of candidates to choose from that I am less familiar with, I choose the candidate whose name I have at least heard. McCain is extremely familiar. This is not his first run for the White House. Additionally, since most people fall somewhere in the middle of the two parties, McCain appealed to those Swing voters who adopt as part of their political belief system, aspects of both parties. I know a few Democrats who like McCain and would choose him over Obama or Clinton. Maybe Mitt can try again in the future and I hope he does.
I doubt it had a thing to do with his position on gay marriage which is an issue most vital to the gay community but not the majority of Americans. And I doubt it had a thing to do with his positions on Huge Business and working with the privatized sector which is CAPITALISM. I work for a large corporation as does 80% of my neighborhood. I reckon America forgets how many people Huge Business EMPLOYS. Now that we have CAFTA and NAFTA and WTO and all the other open trade agreements, Huge Business doesn’t need to use here at all. And now we Americans, thanks to the Government, are place in the precarious position of competing with overseas employees who work for 1/5th what we do. Before anyone trashes a stance that deals with working with Huge Business, reckon about what will happen if all of America’s huge corporations took their headquarters elsewhere and chose to use the pool of employees everywhere BUT here. Most of Americas corporations are made up of people like you and me who are trying to eke out a living. Huge Business is not just the CEO at the top. It’s all the people that are employed by them and raising families with money Huge Business pays. Before we tax the bejesus out of them, make it hard to for them to conduct business here in the US, remember thanks to the past and current president, they no longer have to. I oppose Hillary’s and Obama’s views on Huge Business and reckon that we in America need to attract more large corporations, not send them away. I know too many Systems Designers, Project managers and Programmers who lost their jobs to India or China and now check groceries. It just might be a part of why our economy is the way it is.
people not voting for him?
Rush Limbaugh supporting him.
McCains lies and him also getting his people to vote for Huckabee in West Virginia… things like that.
McCain and voters. He just didn’t have enough support., even from his own party. End of tale.

1. Huckabee
2.Mormonism
3. Trying to buy his own ticket
Disclaimer: This is not to say I don’t like him. He seems like a excellent man, but I still like McCain better.
Huckabee and his supporters did.
Now Romney is out….they are pleased…excellent luck to them…
I have had enough….going to the other side…
Go Obama.

Beats me…. McCain is leading and he has promised more wars…
I dunno what people are thinking
that socialistic experiment with health care in Mass.

1) Because republicans are terrified of anyone who is not their kind of “Christian”
2) Because he comes across as an arrogant phoney who thinks he can buy the White House like he buys corporations.
3) Because he’s running against 2 other candidates better at securing their bases of support.
4) Because the “Independents” are moving Democrat.
