why is Cindy McCain’s tax returns off limits, while Michelle Obama gets dragged thru the mud?
McCain has just fired 5 of his crew because the media has exposed them making big money deals with terrorists. Having said that, Cindy McCain refuses to release her tax records. Why? What is she hiding? Terrorists funding in her private bank accounts?
Republicans want to distract us with Michelle Obama’s *patriotism issues* while Cindy and John McCain live the life of Raleigh with all their terrorists bucks. Real patriotic taking $ from known terror organizations!

I agree with you. If we are going to rake Michelle Obama over the coals, then Cindy McCain should also be fair game. Besides that, everybody is deliberately omitting the key word in Michelle Obama’s statement. She said "For the first time in my ADULT life, I am proud of my country". Well, admittedly, I don’t know her age, but I would think that a large part of her adult life was during the Bush administration. I haven’t been proud of my country during that time either and my family has been here since the 16th century. Before Bush, we had Clinton with both Congressional houses having Republican majorities and tying his hands. That takes up the rest of Michelle’s adult life. Let’s just think about things before going wild over them.

There was an article in the Wall Street Journal recently on Cindy McCain.
This is a summary of the article.
She graduated from Southern Cal and was a special-needs teacher. After her Dad died she became involved with his beer distributing firm and is now the chairwoman. Sales have doubled since she took over from her father and it is now the second largest Bud distributor in the country.
They have a marriage prenuptial agreement such that her assets remain separate. She is involved around the world clearing land mines – travels to these countries on a detonation team and service on their board.
They have a 19 year old serving in Iraq, another son in the Naval Academy, a daughter recently graduated from Columbia University, an adopted daughter in high school, and a son who is the finance guy at the beer firm.
They have raised the kids in Phoenix, AZ rather than Washington DC while John commuted. In 1991, Mrs. McCain came across a girl in an orphanage in Bangladesh. Mother Teresa implored Mrs. McCain to take the baby with severe cleft palate. She did so without first telling her husband. The couple adopted the girl who has since had a dozen operations to repair her cleft palate and other medical problems.
They have a Family Foundation for children’s causes. She’s active with "Halo Trust" to clear land mines, provide water and food in war ravaged and developing countries.
She works with an overseas mission "Operation Smile", a charity for corrective surgery on children’s faces.
She has had two back surgeries and became addicted to pain killers. She talks openly about it which she says is part of the recovery process.
I’m not surprised the media has been so quiet about her attributes. She sounds more capable than Hillary or Obama or John. This time we might really get two for the price of one. A person with business and international experience.
John did work for the firm when he left the Navy. She, however, has the real business experience. Very interesting.
And besides that, she just ain’t that hard to look at either.
Michelle Obama files a joint return with her husband. Since Obama released his tax returns, Michelle’s is also released. Cindy McCain doesn’t file joint returns with McCain, so when McCain released his, Cindy’s was not released.
Cindy McCain should and will release her tax records. But, she’s not going to "jump" just because Dems say so.
If they are out speaking on behalf of there husbands and blasting the people they are running against…yes they are fair game.
If you don’t want Michelle to be an issue shut her up.

Barack Obama is being taken to task because of things his wife said during campaign speeches. That’s not dragging Michelle through the mud.
It’s rightie Republican double standards at work. Everything they do is off limits, personal, old news, done in their wild youth, etc. etc. Everything a Dem does, even if it was 30 years ago, is fair game. Remember, Bush snorted coke and was an alkie until he was almost 40 but that was not to be discussed. Clinton said he pretended to inhale in college and Rush Limbaugh (drug addicted too, but that is his personal business too) went on ad nauseaum about Clinton’s marijuana use.

Within politics, hypocrisy knows no limitations. The entire "Patriotism Speech", was twisted and jaded to make both Obama’s look bad. I wish someone would produce a video of our country’s worst moments in humanity; so all would know; we haven’t always been proud of our darkest moments.
First, because Cindy and John do not file a joint return, unlike the Obamas. For Obama, showing his info is also showing hers.
Second, where are you getting these claims about Cindy getting funding from terrorists? She is the owner of a beer distributor, Muslims don’t drink.
Third, when McCain said he would not own stock in businesses that had ties to Sudan, he ment it. And when a reporter pointed out that some of his mutual funds had stock in companies that did business in Sudan, he got rid of those stocks. I think that shows strengh in his convictions.
Finally, since Michelle threw herself into the spotlight, as Bill has, then yes they are fair game. To the best of my knowledge, Cindy is not stumping for John, which means we should respect her desire not to be in the spotlight. Now, if she is a part of his campaign, then I would agree with you, she would be fair game.
I’m a Hillary supporter and I believe all spouses are fair game. Who you live with is part of who you are. If Obama doesn’t like it, and he doesn’t want his wife exposed to it, then he’d better get out now, because it will continue. Don’t forget Jimmy Carter’s daughter and Chelsea Clinton either– they don’t get out of criticism either. So his kids, as they get older, will be looked at as well!

I want to hear about Cindy McCain’s drug abuse and why she is not in drug rehab or is not doing charity work with the medical field to steer our kids on the right track to never use drugs and to never become alcoholics. These are facts about her that are more relevant than the fact that she is a Beer Pushing company owner.
Cindy McCain, as far as I’ve seen, is not out actively campaigning.
If she is, then of course any comments she makes while campaigning are subject to scrutiny.
