   @bleekblock I find many points I on which I agree with conservatives, but I abhor arguing specifics with people who have no desire to exchange ideas with an open mind. I think it’s natural to lean one way, but when one automatically dismisses all dissenting opinion, then they have transitioned to the point of extremism. That is what repels me. Within ALL ideologies, extremists always exist, but they never see themselves for what they are. They only see it in their opponents. That’s hypocritical.

   @bleekblock I am not referring to the definition of the word “liberal” as you define it. Whatever your ideology (conservative, libertarian or whatever the case), would you allow your political opponent to be the one who decides what the definition of your ideology is? You would not. My statement was apolitical and did not refer to modern interpretations of those ideologies. I am not critical of one’s ideology, just of the arrogance of thinking your ideology is 100% right 100% of the time.

   @bleekblock Liberalism and conservatism each have their place. Neither of these is permanently or completely right or wrong. In a given situation, one direction may be more appropriate. Anyone who thinks one is always right and the other always wrong has no idea of what truth or justice is. The reason the symbol for justice is a scale is that there are two equal sides in the balance. Different facts support each side. The farther from center you reside, the farther you are from the WHOLE truth.
