How can anyone support Michelle Bachmann when she advocates less government regulation?
Michelle Bachmann, Palin on Ritalin, blabbered an incoherent response to a question about her stance on the minimum wage and said the government should have less regulation.
Do Republicans ever learn from history or do they just revise it?
We just went thru a period where Wall Street was deregulated and were allowed to “police themselves”
Look at what they did to our economy–they destroyed it.
Why are Republicans such blockheads?
CB==
Look up the repeal of Glass Stegal and the Commodity Futures Modernization Act.
Government failed to regulate derivatives in the mortgage market.
it could be good and may work,
so far anything is better then barak and his hope and change
You just lied about wall street. You have no credibility now
All normal Americans want less regulation.
We would also like to see fewer mindless attacks on our women.
The deregulation myth is just that.
Deregulation had NOTHING to do with the problem. Both parties and banks and Americans were to blame.
Name 1 thing that was deregulated that led to the crash. Post the link and educate me.
Instead of parroting unsubstantiated babble from the DNC.
That happened in 1999, who was President
Thank you
No, the bailouts and government manipulation destroyed it. the failures should have been allowed to fail and we’d be way past it by now. As for minimum wage, Be worth more than minimum wage and it won’t be an issue for you…minimum wage kicks a substantial percentage of people out of the workforce.
We live under corporatism because of regulations on the people, and lack of on those in control of the economy.
Unregulate the people (give them back their economy) and regulate government and its crones into nonexistence. An American government is suppose to represent the people, not some outside entity (corporations).
Because people are very naive and they don’t understand externalities and market failures, but why should they, most people don’t get a graduate degree in economics.
Why can’t people be responsible for their own lives? Why do the federal overlords have to have so much regulation? There is no constitutional basis for the EPA, DEA, FDA, EEOC, etc., etc., etc.
What do you call 300 federal agencies at the bottom of the Potomac? A good start!
it is a double whammy. They don’t want you to have Social Security, and they don’t want to protect the property you have in investments from the wall street criminals. their “politics originate in immorality, in a disregard of the maxims of good faith and the rights of property”
We just went through a period that is more akin to Corporatism than anything else. The United States has never had true Free Market, Free Enterprise Capitalism. Ever. If you’d payed attention to even elementary history or economics, you’d know this. Our markets and currencies have always been manipulated by, both, government and corporations. Since 1913 every aspect of our markets and our currency has been controlled and manipulated by the Federal Reserve Bank of America, which is a private institution – i.e. there is nothing “federal” about it, just Google the Fed and you’ll learn it is a corrupt regime of the biggest banks in the United States. Basically, it is a monopoly over the entire U.S. economy. The Fed is openly private, which ZERO government oversight. Technically, when the Fed Governors testify to Congress they do that willingly, but there are no laws stating that they are required to, they could legally refuse and we could do nothing about it.
With that in mind, this isn’t a “blockheaded Republican” problem. Interest rates, inflation, deflation, stagflation, currency supply, the daily ups and downs of the markets, etc. etc. are all controlled within the Fed, not the free markets like most people think. About the Corporatism: Corporatism is a merger, a partnership between government and business, which in theory is reasonable, but it gives law-making power to unelected business executives and allows politicians to control the business deals that are supposed to be worked out by people who want to grow and expand their businesses.
The insurance and financial collapse, with the housing market at the helm, was caused by public-private entities who are above the law. Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Bear Sterns, Lehman Bros, etc. are all still in business in some capacity or another, even if under different names. These companies work as private corporations, but have the freedom of ignoring their financial ledgers because when they go into the red, the government can order them to sell their debts to another company, and when that company goes into the red, those debts are sold to yet another company. All these companies are public-private, so it’s a mixture of government AND business screwing things up.
Do your research and I’m sure you’d find that you and your friends, whether they are die-hard Republicans or staunch Democrats are all wrong and have no idea what is going on. This economic downturn wasn’t a failing of Capitalism or de-regulated Free Markets, just like the collapse in 1929 and every other since wasn’t a failing of Capitalism: they were the failings of private entities who have the luxury of being above the law and above normal business standards because they are propped up by the government via the taxpayer.
I’m sure you think this opinion, while scattered and probably makes little sense grammatically, is just the crap of a stupid Republican. Really, I don’t care because you’re blind enough to assume that Michelle Bachman is the worst thing in the presidential race.
The people that support Bachmann, or any of the current republicans, do not look at the facts. They warp the truth to support their agenda. They want Obama out of office and they are willing to crash our economy to do it. they have abandoned all their prior beliefs just to go against Obama. You can’t reason with the unreasonable. I stopped asking questions trying to understand them.
I’m a Liberal that’s supporting Michele Bachmann for the GOP nomination, because I want to ensure an Obama landslide, and be entertained in the process.
What you fail to understand is with the CFMA, the Democrats were all in, right along with the Republicans.
WE JUST WENT THROUGH????
The Obama years will go down in history as America’s Dark Ages.
