@hildegain Cont; I’m not disagreeing with you really, I don’t see anything good in these acts and I don’t enjoy seeing cases for them.
I also don’t think that anyone is disgusting for this kind of behaviour. Those who I do have distaste for it are those who are advertising and encouraging this behaviour for those who gullible.
Some people do this because they think it will make society view them in a better light which is just not true.

From your perspective these things are awful.
From mine; tattoos are awful, as well as genital mutilation of any kind.
Not every behaviour is self destructive, some people might have self destructive reasons but that is not always at the heart of behaviour like this.
The problem is that people perceive this as a great thing and ignore the risks.
@hildegain Yes, we all do stupid and irrational things sometimes, but that doesn’t make (oversized) breast implants and anorexia any less harmful, disgusting, and insane. These are pretty severe forms self-mutilation, and sure signs of deep psychological problems. It is a sick society that encourages this sort of psychotic, self destructive behavior.
