Why is gay marriage projected to be a liberal issue and not just a gay issue?
Obama says he is against it in speeches, The Democrat Party is against, the more liberal states voted against it like California, even in France gay marriage isnt legal. This doesnt sound like a liberal issue to me, just a gay issue.
I wouldnt say its a civil rights issue, maybe a civil entitlement issue since it involves entitlements and not rights.

Well haven’t you heard? Anything that is of logic and sound reason or is in the best interest of civil rights and humanity is “liberal”.
Gay marriage is a civil rights issue. Civil rights are individual freedoms. I’d question whether marriage should even be the business of government. Marriage is a private contract between individuals. Any religious sentiment or definitions are personal and should not be forced upon the general population.
I’d say that most gay rights/gay marriage supporters are on the left, but clearly the Democrats haven’t caught up. Think of it this way: the left usually votes Democrat, the left usually supports gay marriage, but the Democrats don’t always go left.
For me, gay marriage is more of a libertarian issue that the left just happens to endorse. On other matters of freedom, they’re horribly behind and inadequate.

This is because religious groups such as the mormon church spread lies and misinformation about homosexuals and gay marriage in order to get more people to vote against it. If conservatives don’t care, then why do they spend so much time trying to get people to vote against gay marriage.
