Why is the cost of living cheaper in the South just like it is cheaper in Mexico, Iraq, Congo, and Haiti?

If the cost of living is higher in the North “because of liberal policies”, why is the cost of living higher in the South then in most third world countries?

Mexico City, Monterrey, and other Mexican cities are heavily populated but their cost of living is cheaper then in American cities.
NO. The reason is because the north tends to have a higher standard of living. People make more money are and are better educated. That stats prove it.
Because things cost less in the South.
Taxes are lower (I don’t even think Tennesse had an income tax until last year—-they elected a democrat as governor). The NEA doesn’t run the schools. Labor unions are not as powerful in the south. Sales taxes aren’t as high. State gasoline taxes aren’t as high as they are up north. And besides all that, we still live comfortably in the South.

The cost of living is all about population density, not “north” or “south.” If there are more people needing land, the value of the land increases.
Mexican cities are in an economy based on a far weaker currency, so you can’t give a good comparison there.
Ada yada yada yammer yammer yammer. Maybe if you would quit classifying liberal, conservative and so on you might be able to write a meaningful question. Do you honestly think everyone here is a conservative? Do you honestly think everyone north is a liberal? You really need to learn about people first hand instead of on here and TV.

Perhaps the lack of industry and also the lack of unions who have forced the prices of everything to go up….. ?
It’s because they have lower wages, poorer living conditions, and they lack unions. Actually the rest of the country is supporting these regions with welfare benefits and subsidies for the rich.
