How is Christianity different than Islam in the aspect of writings?
Muslims love to criticize Christians saying they follow books (Paul) written way after the death of Jesus (pbuh). But isn’t the same thing happening with Islam? The Hadith were collected hundreds of years after the death of Muhammad (pbuh), but Muslims (Sunni) swear they are real and authenticated. So what’s the deal? I see hypocrisy.
All religions tend to have their exclusions to the rule.
Christian’s don’t listen to Islam because they believe it wasn’t written by a prophet, and consider Jesus the last “prophet” — or, the Messiah.
Muslims don’t listen to Christians because we have Paul, and do not believe in the “Son of God” connotation attached to Jesus. Nor, accepting Jesus’ death on a cross.
Though, oddly enough Christian’s and Muslims have a lot more in common in relation to each other than their Jewish counterparts. Oddly enough, Judaism essentially spawned it all.
The Hadith didn’t take hundreds of years to be gathered, it was just collected by the most closest and trusted of Mohammed’s (pbuh) companions like Abi Huraira (the father of cats), Muslem, Al Tarmazi etc, from the other people who went to Mohammed (pbuh) to ask him questions and get help, and then all the Hadith was compared to God’s orders in the Qur’an scripture, and the majority of them were found agreeing with whats written in the Qur’an, the rest was considered “weak” Hadith and it didn’t become an obligation to implement them.
Muslims don’t believe that Christ is the son of God. Mohammed came after Christ and his message was that Christ isn’t the son of God and Christ isn’t the way to heaven. His message was against Christ’s prophecy. Isaiah 9 talks clearly about Jesus Christ. Revelation 12 talks about the male child who is of the next messenger from the Lord; which hasn’t took place as yet.
First everyone needs to understand the different writings.
There are few different categories of writings:
1. The word of God
this is what God said quoted word for word
2. the words of the Prophets
this is what the prophet said quoted word for word
3. The words of Men
this is what the companions that were present at the time saw.
4. Historians and commentators.
The Bible contains all the above in one book and sometimes it is difficult to know what God, or the Prophet or others have said. For example the Christians have tried to identify what Jesus said and they named that the red letter but still they are not so sure 100%. But at least it is an attempt.
Why they are not sure because they do not have a credible source to who said that to be sure whether he is conveying what Jesus really said or was it his own words to what he thinks Jesus said. There is a vast difference here.
Similarly, reading the old testament you will immediately notice lots of historical stuff that should not be in their any way but it is there.
This is where Islam and Muslims have excelled.
the quoted word for word that God spoke are in the Quran. Hence the Quran is a Miracle. Because the difference between the word of God and the word of Man is like the difference between God and man.
The words of the prophet quoted word for word in Hadith Books.
Also in Hadith Books the companions not recorded his words also his the prophet’s actions they saw him doing.
The above two are authoritative: the Quran is a 100% and the Hadith could be up to 100% depending of level of credibility. This does not exist anywhere in any other culture. Other cultures assume accuracy and take it for granted.
Other books are history and commentary and they are that not as authoritative but they are auxiliary help.
To be credible and accurate a science was created to make sure of accuracy level. This is for Hadith only, because was 1000% accuracy with no doubt in any Muslim’s mind.
To identify the accuracy of the Hadith or any story for that matter, we must know who said all the way back to the prophet. each person known for his lineage as well as character. also the content had to be credible and homogeneous within itself and other stuff.
This is kind of methodology never existed until recently in the scientific method.
This is why Muslims are so proud of their books.
Muslims ,, Believe in Jesus , and Christianity , BUT ! we believe that after Jesus (PBUH)taken up to heaven (or killed in Christians Belief) Christians Got really lost , and The bible was distorted .. so God Sent Mohammed to be the final Prophet , God said in Qur’an that Islam will be the last relgion as Mohammed is the last prophet Islam cannot be distorted and god will save it always
