Although Muslims fight tooth and nail to say Quran 4:34 is saying you can “lightly” beat your wife” (tap on her?), there is no mention of the “lightly beat”. What’s creepier still about Quran 4:34, is that you can BEAT your wife if you just FEAR rebelliousness from her. In otherwords, she can be totally innocent, and, you can still beat her. It reminds of Quran 18:74-81 where an INNOCENT youth is killed just by FEARING he’d “grow up to disappoint parents or show ungratefulness toward Allah”.

WRONG. Four witnesses are required, or else the woman is convicted of slander and lashed. Aren’t you familiar with the Qur’an, and how 24:4 and 24:13 were revealed? Also remember that a man’s testimony is worth double a woman’s, which means that if they go toe to toe the man wins. There’s a reason why up to 80% of the women in Pakistani gaols are rape-victims – they were raped, they spoke up about it, they failed to provide 4 witnesses and thusly were convicted of slander and zina.

The 4 witnesses are for PUNISHMENT, not ACCUSATION. eg. If a women accuse a man with weak evidence/less witness, He won’t be killed but face lighter punishment like pay the women. Also 4 witnesses doesn’t just apply to this kind crime but all crimes.
So when are the four male witness not needed in a rape case?

It’s easy to misquote Texts to demonise “The Other” – here is a Biblical example:
“If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman … he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.” (Deuteronomy 22:28-29)

The whole 4 witnesses is the case of accusing “ADULTERY” not RAPE ! in the case of rape , the testimony of the woman stands enough by itself.

I don’t have time to address it but will tell you there is an example of a woman who was raped at the time of the Prophet and she was not punished but the man was brought to justice.
In addition there is no four women required for one man. Please consult your local Islamic centre.
