   With a Democratic majority in the House and Senate, there wasn’t much he could do.

   9/11 was the thing that forced him to focus. He really had to get off the ranch and focus on the country when that crisis hit. He really had to finish reading that book about goats first though.

   Right after his election and right before 9/11, he announced he would like the US to put more energy and resources into getting a man to Mars. I remember this because of all the enthusiasm it generated on the Internet.
