Would the Republicans actually seek to orchestrate a war against Iran in hopes of retaining the White House?

I reckon one of two scenarios might be possible:
1. Bush attacks Iran, then declares martial law just prior to the election, or right afterwards. He can do this easily since he revoked the Posse Comitatus Act of 1879, which now allows a U.S. President to declare martial law without the consent of Congress. He’ll be ordered to claim that changing administrations at the beginning of a new ‘war’ would not be in the best interests of national security.
2. If, on the other hand, Republicans are 100% certain that the worst economic depression in U.S. history looms (an event which I personally predict will happen in October, 2009), you’ll see a mediocre attempt on the part of the Republican party to win any November elections. Better to let Democrats win by a landslide, blame them for the depression, then come back strong in 2012 to continue the rape, pillage and plunder of the world’s OIL supplies.
There have been reports published in Israel claiming Bush intends to attack Iran before he leaves office. Just a few weeks ago, the White House adamantly denied those reports (which is a excellent indication that they’re right). The only way Bush can attack Iran is to stage another ‘terrorist’ attack on U.S. soil (this time in the Midwest, perhaps St. Louis or Chicago). And his handlers already know that ‘weapons of mass destruction’ won’t be a viable excuse, so they’ll have to come up with something more sinister.
With this evil administration, anything could happen – even the most extreme theories shouldn’t be discounted. -RKO- 07/09/08

Considering the USS Liberty was a DELIBERATE/PLANNED attack with the goal of bringing the US into the war and helping Israel against Egypt and other Arab countries (if fact we launched nuclear armed fighters to bomb Cairo while the ship was being attacked by… Israel)… it’s completely possible and the thought has been done before (more than once).
People are either clueless or completely naive if they reckon these fake flag attacks for political purposes aren’t used more often. Try putting down those censored books and reading up on real US history.
We went into Iraq just prior to an election too. Someone remind me… what did they do to us again? I’d also mention that several current and former politicians and ex-US intelligence agents have said, on record, that they believe Iran will be setup in order to start a war. It’s completely within the realm of possibility.
Whether it happens or not is another question. I guess we’ll know in a few months.

No one is forcing Iran to do what they are doing. Every action Iran takes is done to provoke a reaction from Israel and the USA.
