Can we really afford both Congress & the White House to be controlled by one Party?
We lose a major check and balance metric, and history shows that EVERY time that Congress & the White House is of the same Party, corruption & inflation follow within 2 years.
Pelosi & Obama = an out of control FEDERAL government.
This is another reason I am for McCain, we cannot have Pelosi running wild in Congress with Obama rubber stamping her legislation.
For the last 8 years the White House was controlled by Republicans
and Congress and the House of Representatives where BOTH controlled by the Democrats.
That’s why things were not any better— the Democrats messed it all up.
Governments are bad! We need anarchy!
McCain and Palin can eliminate as much "federal" government as possible. Except for the military, we need to fight terrorists all over the world. Bring it on Iran and North Korea!
McCain/Palin ’08
No people don’t think that far in advance…
Some do… But then again… they are far left freaks who would love for the far left to have that kind of power.
me??…… Not so much
You mean like it was for most of Bush’s presidency?
Haven’t we proved that already with having the Republicans in total control for 6 years.
It had been for 7 years. Republicans hadn’t done anything to help.
Wasn’t it controlled by one party from 2000 till 2006? You might be onto something the republicans really ran this country into the ground for 6 years.
That’s a very weak argument considering you haven’t really offered any proof. The Republicans have pushed us out of control with their huge spending programs on the military (we now have the largest deficit ever). Its time for the other party to be back in the White House.
No. I’ve always preferred it when they’re of different parties to keep each other in check.
The combo of Pelosi and Obama is truly terrifying.
Or two parties. Repubs and demos are the same elitist boobs.
if we keep electing knuckle heads, no
It is probably not ideal. But you don’t have the right to be concerned about it unless you were equally concerned during the first six years of Bush’s administration.
You make a good point after looking all the debt and red ink ran up by the Republican congress and Dubya. Not to mention absolutely no accountability by the Republican congress over the executive branch during this same timeframe.
However, it is clearly time for a change of the party controlling the Presidency. McCain isn’t that change, since he belongs to the same party as Bush.
with a 9% approval rating in Congress…. NO INTELLIGENT PERSON should even THINK of electing a Democrat to the Presidency.
FYI…
Every year Bush has been president, with the exception of the current Congress….
The Congress was majority led by republicans.
With the exception of Ginsburg and Breyer…every current Supreme Court Justice is a Republican.
And the speaker, Dennis Hastert, was 100 times worse then Pelosi and was involved in more controversies then I have ever seen a Congressmen involved in, including shady investments and being involved with George Soros. He did absolutly nothing…
You mean like in the last 7 years????
My thinking is that no one who had any complicity with the Dubya Gump/Darth Cheney fascist regime should remain anywhere near our government. They raped the country for 7 years to fatten their wallets, ruined everything they touched, and now it’s going to take years to fix it.
The question should be: Can we really afford to allow any more neo-conjobs near our public institutions?
This coming from someone who probably voted straight Republican in 2000, 2002 and 2004.
I’m sick of Rove style politics that come from the GOP so I’m not voting McCain. Any Republican that denounces Rove tactics has a good chance of getting my vote.
All the problems currently with our country come from a Republican President and Congress rubber stamping everything, not Nancy or the Democrats since Bush has vetoed every single thing they’ve proposed!
Come on you’ve got to understand that!
Alan Greenspan said before the Kerry election that he wanted Kerry to win only because it’s damaging and dangerous to have the same party President and Congress.
Judging by all the stupid things Bush did to our country and the current state of our economy, Greenspan was right.
And Bush and his republican controlled congress for nearly 6 of his 8 years were perfectly under control and didn’t do anything stupid? Not like spending far too much money after cutting taxes. Even a person in a coma would be able to tell you that if you are taking in a vastly smaller amount of money than you are putting out, then you’re gonna be bankrupt soon unless you borrow from a bunch of shady people. I’m still waiting for China to turn into a loan shark and come break Bush’s legs or something.
No. I do not want a democratic congress or senate. The only reason that amnesty bill did not go through was because of they did not have the majority. I am voting for Obama but I am voting Republican down the rest of the ticket.
How can we go wrong? Pelosi said Obama was sent to us by GOD! That women needs to be on heavier meds.
History has shown that this door goes both ways and during the first half of the bush administration it did. In the congressional elections the majority of Americans chose the democratic party to represent them in congress so the majority is being served. It may be true that corruption may occur but one must remember corruption is always present in government when the goal is power. Despite what politicians preach, their main goal whether they want to admit it or not is POWER and the people come second so to say these things are a result of party majority in government is an over-generalization. Furthermore, Obama is stressing Bi-Partisan action in which not every issue is dictated by which party the representatives belong to, which is how government should be truly run. There will never be an absolute balance between the parties in seats of government, however with the right leadership we can eliminate the stubbornness of congressional members in voting so that real progress may be made instead of petty party votes. Finally in one of George Washington’s final presidential speeches he warned of a two party system, believing it would tear at the very fabric of democracy. So it seems that rather than continue with the status quo it is time to rise above this issue that is destroying the effectiveness of our government.
Only twice in history has a 1st term Democratic President gotten to have a Democratic House and Senate.
Franklin D. Roosevelt: Which produced the "New Deal" which is what many of today’s Welfare programs are based on.
Lyndon B. Johnson: Which produce the "Big Deal" which is what almost all of modern American societies social Welfare programs are based on.
We all know what sweeping social reforms Obama wants to institute. The questions is not whether he will be able to pass them if elected. The questions is how much damage it will do to our already struggling economy.
