What do you think about Donald Trump using the “birther” issue in his presidential aspirations?
He says he sent investigators to Hawaii to determine the issue one way or the other. This issue seems similar to the need for adequate security on the Mexican border. Both issues seem so simple to resolve, but no one will do it.
He’s only making himself look like an ass, and further proving that he will NOT be the Republican GOP.
Donald is pumping up his ratings and the media is bringing on Donald to pump up their ratings, win/win for TV executives everywhere!
I think it will hurt him a lot more than help him. He just looks like a fool.
My opinion? Trump lost all credibility when he became a “birther.”
Apparently, the publicity fed his EGO and that was more important to him than a serious run at the presidency.
I think he is only running to increase his name recognition and speaking fees, so the more buzz he can create, the better. But he has about as much chance of being elected as Steven Colbert.
Unless he has stock in a tin foil hat company, he will be the biggest loser.

Well the President could make this easy on everyone and just show his long-form birth certificate.
Instead he’s spending millions to defend himself from lawsuits in court asking for that document. Doesn’t it seem fishy that he’d spend thousands of his own money when it could easily be resolved? I sure as heck wouldn’t waste my own money or time on lawyers and court cases when they could be thrown out in a matter of minutes by just providing it. So while I am not a “birther” I also question the President’s actions.
To everyone who will tell me he’s released it… no he hasn’t. The certificates posted all over the web are short-form birth certificates and certificates of live birth. Almost anyone can get one of those. The crazy conservatives want to see the long-form and the President’s actions are making me want to see it as well.
I could not care less. Obama’s mom is a US citizen which makes him a citizen, doesn’t matter where he was born.
It is odd that Obama won’t just produce his certificate, I do think there is something being hidden.
My prediction is that the “investigators” are going to come up empty handed, and Trump is going to use his “revelation” in order to join the Obama camp and steal some of his fence sitters – either to get more publicity for himself – in his presidential aspirations, or for his crappy show bros.
It is a big gamble for Trump. If Obama was born in Hawaii, Trump will look bad and drop any aspirations for the White House. If Obama was born on foreign soil then he would immediately be relieved of duty and Trump would proclaimed the champion of the anti-Obama crowd.
He knows what he’s doing…
I am not so sure he is using this to boost his aspirations.
People are telling him to drop this, it is not helping. I think he feels Obama has something to hide. Run or not he has real questions of Obama being born in HI.
I have some questions my self. I really wonder why his grand mother would say he was born in Kenya?
This was an eye opener for me, and his birth place in Kenya is marked as a historical place. Political leaders in Kenya make statements of his birth there. Something is not right, and Trump has the same question as others.
You mean no one will believe it. Birthers wouldn’t believe it if there were pictures of the newborn Obama in a grass skirt with a lei around his babyneck and a born in Hawaii t-shirt with Mauna Loa in the background. You can’t cure dumb.
As to Trump, shortest presidential campaign ever.
He hasn’t a chance, there aren’t that many people who are that kind of crazy.
A long form certificate is not a proof of anything at all, a certified, with raised seal copy of a birth certificate is, really several news organizations and the committees vetting the candidates already checked it out. Trump says the long form tells the baby’s religion and what Obama is hiding is that he’s a Muslim. No birth certificate lists the infant’s religion, and Trump himself release a hospital copy of his birth which turned out not to be the legal document, which has a raised seal on it, and had to get the proper one.
I expect he would tackle equally important issues as president.

The Federal govt doesn’t feel we have a right to know, yet they’re in our business with the Patriot Act.
A certificate of live birth doesn’t prove citizenship.
A long form birth certificate from a hospital or physician does.
The left would deny it even if it proves to be true.
If both his parents had been US citizens it probably wouldn’t be an issue, however that’s not the case and the age of his mother when giving birth to him also brings in to question the 5 year residency requirement of the parents over age 18 of a presidential candidate.
