Why do Democrats want taxes raised while accusing Republicans of voting against their own best interest?
Democrats are always CHAMPIONING the poor, and then they turn around and whine because taxes aren’t higher. What do they think higher taxes will do to the poor, help them or something?
If we continue to drop money into the hole that is the federal government, how is that helping the poor?
Billy Blaze – If none of this makes any sense to you, then be prepared to be handed more epic losses in the next election. It’s no wonder you guys are perplexed every time you lose an election.
it is appalling that the Democrats are about to allow the tax rates on the poor to increase in January.
All the while pretending they take care of the poor.
We never fight for lower class taxes. We just want billionaires who don’t need the money to pay their fair share.
“whine because taxes aren’t higher”
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight…we’re all whining we don’t have to pay more taxes.
Gimme a break.
Sorry, this makes absolutely no sense. Did you think about this before you posted it?
it helps the poor get welfare?
republicans are against high taxing because of this and it also takes away there hard earned american earned money duh.
the democrats will gladly extend the bush tax cuts if any republican offers a way to pay for them
You DO know that taxes on the poor won’t go up? Turn off Fox and check out the real world and read up on the issues. That goes to everyone.
98% of americans make less than 250,000 dollars a year.
Democrats propose tax cuts on the first 250k of income.
Republicans want to spend 700 billion for a 3% tax cut on income over 250k – increasing the deficit by 700 billion, all while they claim to want to reduce the deficit.
Higher taxes provides more money for social security programs like Medicaid and Medicare as well as food stamps, government subsidized housing, and job training and assistance programs that are designed to provide basic needs and costs of living expenses for those living in poverty.
the Dem’s have no idea what they are doing. they get bill mahr facts and comedy central news
democrats predominately desire taxes to be based on a curve, so that those with more money pay more taxes. but is this entirely fair to those who earned this money respectably, with hard work and determination? though we will never have a “right way” to gain capital for our government, this option clearly is not one.
If we defund programs that help the poor in order to allow for tax cuts to the rich, how does that help the poor?
I don’t want to raise taxes, but I think we have put ourselves in a position where we have to do it. I am all for cutting spending all across the board. We need to throw the kitchen sink at the deficit. I have never lived off of debt in my life, and I don’t want to see my country doing it either. I do not like China I don’t want them involved with us. I have nothing against a person for being Chinese, but that country is really messed up.
On the other hand we are at a point where if you do what we should have been doing all along meaning living within our means and minding our own business the economy is going to go to hell when spending slows and taxes go up.
I am really not looking forward to explaining to my daughter how for decades we were actively destroying her opportunities to live in a free and prosperous society.
Your question speaks of the intellect you own. Tax cuts means more money in YOUR pocket. Tax hikes means more money in government’s pocket. Government spends it on things that show no real benefit. When government can’t get the money it wants to spend from taxes, they borrow it from other countries. Now we have a huge deficit and they want to raise taxes to cover their extravagance.
We have passed the biggest stimulus bill ever seen in history, but nothing for the poor. There are now more people with less money.
There are people who been on unemployment benefits for two years, but I see jobs in the paper every day.
It’s hypocrisy at its finest. What the liberals don’t tell you is that fees and taxes are the same thing, so when they vote to have fees passed and then say “we don’t want to tax the middle class” that is a bald faced lie.
It’s not. It is what is being spread to the uninformed to make them think that the Government will save them. The scary part is that the uninformed are being used as victims of their own ignorance. Poster children of why they have to be taken care of.
They should be taught how to fish…
Yeah, razing taxes at this point would accomplish nothing other than further depressing an already depressed economy. The government does not have an income problem it has a spending problem.
I always find it amusing that cutting spending is automatically cast as cutting welfare or social security or the military. However, there are millions to billions of dollars of just plain waste in the government, not to mention pet projects that only help a very few amount of people as well as programs for the arts and what not that are not necessary to running a government.
If congress cut all the crap out of the budget first and still found it did not have enough money to pay for the important stuff then I would be a little more open to tax increases.
on separate note, you don’t have to “pay” for tax cuts, it is not an expenditure it is a reduction in income. But even that’s not true, every single tax cut that has been passes has raised the amount of tax revenue the government has brought in not reduced it. They pay for themselves in more people paying taxes as well as in increased economic activity.
I don’t think you got the question right. The fight is over extending the Bush tax break or not. No one is suggesting raising taxes right now. When Bush got that legislation passed, the law stated that congress would have exactly ten years to find new revenue sources or prove the tax cut worked and actually helped grow the economy (the sentiments of Republicans at the time and now still believe by giving the rich more money, they would invest it and the rewards would trickle down) that never happened as we all know and now they’ve decided to call it a tax hike on the part of Dems (absolutely not true) and want it extended indefinitely. Meanwhile, back on the ranch, the rest of us are seeing our jobs and everything else continue to go overseas, headed up by those wealthy, tax-freer republicans. Nice, eh?
