Why can democrats and independents vote in the republican primary?
Doesn’t that kind of defeat the purpose of a Republican primary? The only benefit to registering as a republican is so you can vote in the republican primary to determine the nominee for your party. If you let anyone vote, doesn’t that defeat the purpose and wouldn’t they vote for either someone in the republican party who can’t get elected or someone who is in sync with the democrats views?
I’m with you. It’s total crap that the dems can change their political party so they can vote in the weakest republican. It completely defeats the purpose of democracy!!!!!!!!! I say there should be a law that you cannot change to a different party more than once a year.
Opened Primaries Brother.
It is an open primary.
They can’t in Florida. I’ve heard that to be true in a couple of states and don’t think that is right.
Yes, they do allow to cross the party line and vote
That explains why some some republicans did that in iowa to vote dem candidate.
That could be a strategy by republicans to eliminate a dem candidate, e.g., if they dont like hillary for the nomination, they just cross the party line and vote obama, as some people have alleged here.
I beleive that some states have rules preventing voters from crossing the party line.
Because you don’t prove which party you are with when you register. In 2004 none of the republicans voted for Bush in the primaries. They voted for Kerry so the dems. would wind up with an unelectable candidate. In November they voted for the guy who was running against Kerry, and tried to forget they were re-electing W.
How do you think Obama won Iowa? Do you think there are all these Black people in Iowa, that nobody knows about, that voted for him?
