Why does Gen. Petraeus dresses up far beyond anything ever seen in our military hisotry?
Not even Patton or MacArthur looked like that. David Petraeus looks like one of those old soviet generals standing around Red Square at a patriot parade with Uncle Joe. So many stripes, gold thingies, brass thingies, a rainbow of ribbons and just festooned with geegaws, everywhere.
Even the double gold stripes down the trousars, hell, that looks like something John Philip Sousa would wear. This really looks like clown suit. Naw, nothing that Ike or even the Desert Storm general would wear. Storming Norman wouldn’t dream of such gaudy nonesnes. Looks like a clown, even talks like a clown. Maybe he is just another professioal show business guy they placed in high office, a front man.
Look up pictures of Winfield Scott.
I will only mention one Major General that was more flamboyant, George Armstrong Custer. His troops followed him.
He dresses in accordance with AR 670-1.
Complain to the Dept of the Army if you don’t like it.
These days American Generals do go in for opera bouffe.
General Petraeus, Commander of United States Central Command, isn’t ‘dressing up’. To someone who knows, those awards are a road map to his career. He has earned everything you see him wearing, and is dressed in proper military attire. He is a great and honorable American.
