   Seems like a good man, but also seems to be another Bush puppet, or he would have been replaced by now.

   Obviously a government agent who supposedly ‘discovered’ Saddams fake mobile weapons laboratories which were for weather balloons. He’s complicit with the entire ‘mushroom cloud’ hyperbole crowd, the people who misled the public before the invasion

   I agree with Al Cracka. This administration loves soldier-politicians (anyone with that many stars is a politician.. don’t kid yourself). They can be convinced to say things to further their career because they’ve been playing at politics for so long, but they still have a soldiers honor and will fall on their sword for the sake of the command. Don’t believe me? Two words: Colin Powell.

    He is first and foremost a military man, not a politician. He is interested in doing his job and that is fighting the battle in Iraq. He isn’t too concerned with the squabbling of politicians. He tells it as it is and nothing more.

    I don’t think that much of him because it is very hard to find information about the man. He appears to be someone who has agreed with this administration for a long time (given his op-ed a few years ago… which the assesment in that op-ed piece was wrong at that time)… so while I think he is a capable and intelligent man I don’t completely trust him because I don’t trust this president and I think he falls in line with Bush. I don’t think that he is independent like he claims.

    That’s my opinion…. now everyone can flag me down since everyone seems to think he’s the best general ever (and I swear no one on yahoo didn’t even know his name a few years ago).

    Now there is a guy I wouldn’t want to piss off in a dark alley.

    As an ex-paratrooper myself, I know what the insignias mean on his uniform. The man is jump qualified in the militaries of four countries including the US.

    He is one tough SOB. He is exactly what the troops in Iraq and the people of the US need on the job.

    He is a graduate of West Point.
    He has a phd in international relations from Princeton, which, by itself, makes him more knowlegable than anyone that TRIED to grill him on the Armed services committee.
    He also completed a fellowship at the Georgetown School of Foreign service.
    The military decorations and accomplishments are too numerous to list.
    Let this guy do his thing.

    He’s an honest , dedicated man who has honorably served our country for decades with integrity and efficiency who has now been attacked by Moveon.org and the same democrats who unanimously voted for him, to trust him to do a job, and then when he comes back to tell them how the job is going , they now treat him as a liar before he even spoke a word !!!

    Petraeus deserves an apology from the Democratic Party . NOW !!

    He is an honorable man and a soldier doing what soldiers do. He is obeying his superiors. He is also a career soldier and wants to keep his job. Knowing that all who have gone before him who have opposed the Bushies are no longer able to have a distinguished military career it stands to reason that he is going to obey.

    I feel sorry for him in a way because he is damned if he goes one way and damned if he goes the other. It is tough being between a rock and a hard place and that is where he is. I think he should prosecute the war with tactics etc as he was trained to do and leave the political aspects to the politicians.

    The politicians answer to the people he does not. He only answers to his superiors (Bush and Gates) so the politicians see things differently than the good general does.

    He is the Sherman of our time. He wrote the book on Counter insurgency, understood the lesson in Malaya and applied it.

    He was voted unanimously by Congress to lead the war in Iraq. He is a decorated 4 star general and should be allowed to do his job and secure our victory.
