Americans would prefer UK troops to remain in position as long as they do. A story in todays Guardian news paper about the UK government planning to leave Iraq before the end of the year. The UK government is waiting for next months report from General David Petraeus which would clear they way for Gordon Brown to plan for UK troop withdrawal.

Like I have said in this forum before I do not agree with pulling the troops out too early I believe that we should finish the job we started if we leave now that means that the insurgents will be able to mobilise and the Taliban will move in and Iraq will become another afghanistan another haven for terrorist training camps. No I think Gordon Brown is wrong on this one Iraq is not stable enough for troops withdrawal. Read the article link I posted and tell me what you think..
Pedro thank you for your reply I think you know that I am not American nor do I support the Bush Administration but I do support our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bush and Blair promised the Iraqi’s at the beginning of the war that they would bring peace and democracy to Iraq after years of Saddam Hussein dictatorship. Democracy does not happen over night democract is hard won and takes years to achieve. Our troops are doing a sterling job in very difficult circumstances but they are doing a job they have been trained to do. abandoning Iraq now would be a mistake and as I siad Iraq would become a haven for terrorist training camps in preparation for another possible 9/11 attack either on UK soil or US soil. I voted Labour in the last election in the UK because I believe they are the best party to run my country.
If I lived in the US I would vote Democratic because the share the same political views as me.
