Who was the last Republican President that was an actual fiscal conservative?
So yeah, who was the last Republican President of the United States that was an actual fiscal conservative and who managed a good budget and economy?
Thanks, peace!

ronald regan dawg
Eisenhower?
~~ Roosevelt~
Moses.
Nixon was the last one to balance the budget. Dummycrats like to claim clinton did, but it was a republican congress. They had to drag him kicking and screaming.
Newt Gingrich was responsible for the Clinton Administration’s surplus
The great Ronald Reagan! I don’t know about George H. W. Bush, I don;t really remember his administration, but I learned all about Reaganomics in high school.
George Washington
The last president to actually leave a surplus was a “tax and spend” liberal named William Jefferson Clinton. Reagan’s trickle down economics was a freaking joke and he left a huge deficit.
Nixon.

Reagan. He was handed a recession just as bad as the current one and by the time he left office it was so strong that it took Clinton’s tax increases 6 years to slow it down. Reagan’s administration did have deficit spending but you have to remember the he worked with a Democrat control Congress who stopped his attempts every time he tried to cut spending! If you want a healthy economy and a reasonable budget you have to vote for real Conservatives and not the squishy moderate kind!
You got me there…Certainly Ronald Reagan wasn’t, though he spent the Soviet Union out of existence, so he deserves a pass.
The difference really is that liberals seek to entrench government dependence.
To do something critical to national and world security, and to have that spending come to an end, is quite different than training us all to be dependent on government subsidy
Nixon. Every Republican President we’ve had since him has actually doubled or in the case of Regan tripled our national debt.
Ike had the last balanced budget. Ike also wasn’t popular with the fruitcake California conservatives, intent on hunting commies.
But what I like best about Ike was the way he handled illegal immigration. He transferred all the border agents to different offices. Suddenly, the farmers in the midwest could bitch all they wanted to at their Senators. The Senator would then pick up the phone and dial the Border Patrol, only to find they no longer had any influence.
So, Ike was touted as the poster boy for the Republicans, but Ike was very much an independent and his legacy shows that.
I would disagree Regan was a fiscal conservative, as he drastically increased spending ceilings for the military. Plus, in 1983, he had the highest ever increase in payroll taxes and social security tax ever.
Regan may hae spurred support for the GOP, but he was no fiscal conservative.
Ronald Reagan would’ve been a fiscally conservative president, if not for Democrats holding Congress.
Before him, I would say Eisenhower was close; but expanded social security.
Calvin Coolidge was a strict constitutional conservative.
It is Barack Obama. He is awesome and if I were a woman I would totally let him take advantage of me.
