New Jersey Governor-elect Chris Christie makes first appearance in Newark
Only hours after ousting incumbent Democratic governor Jon Corzine in a hard-fought campaign, Republican Chris Christie made his first appearance as governor-elect in the Democratic stronghold of Newark. Christie, who was born in Newark and served as US Attorney there, visited the Robert Treat Academy, a successful charter school he spoke about frequently during his campaign. Touring the school with its founder, local Democratic power broker Stephen Adubato, Sr., as well as Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Christie said the school was a model to be replicated around the state and pledged to work with Democrats and Republicans to improve urban education. Why is he talking to nine year olds about forces and politics? Putting propaganda in their brains already….
@Hammerlix The tax cuts worked wonders – the liberal policies he passed and the conservative polices that the liberals blocked are what caused the problems.
Namely the energy policy that the liberals blocked, and the liberal policies on housing that Bush and the Democrats worked together on.
@ToddAldrich Yeah, LOL!!! Just like the Bush/Cheney Tax Cuts for the rich created so many jobs the numbers actually went backwards. The truth is the wealthy ARE creating jobs… only the jobs they are creating are in China and India where the wealthy can maximize profits.
@quinton01 It is because those liberals create dependency and the people in those areas. They are trapped, & cannot see any alternative except the continuation of the very programs that, although they provide a subsistence level life, they also are the source of the problem that keeps them in poverty. Liberals are like drug dealers. They hand out “free” samples and “hook’ people on those programs – and just like the junkie who thinks his dealer is his friend, the victims of liberalism do too.
@Hammerlix In other words, he is trying to create jobs and STOP the money from fleeting the state.
Heaven forbid he does things that are PROVEN to work.
I laughed my ass of at that video of Christie going on night patrol with Booker. Christie looked like he would rather have been anywhere but there. Granted, he probably does think photo ops like that are a waste of his time. But, the fact that Booker is a democrat, and widely expected to be a future opponent for Christie in some capacity probably did not improve his mood.
Governor Christie should have a personal meeting with Edward Lawson, so he can get a citizen activist’s view of the problems of Newark NJ, and its openly racist gang task force police division. What he sees may horrify him, but it will lead to him being aware of the problem, and thus aware of its solution.

yo, moron, do you understand economics? This state is BROKE, what is it about this you don’t undrestand. Your issue is not with Christie, its with all the roaring socialists who came before him who kept spending money they did not have. Christie is just the natural end to a dysfunctional process. He is cutting taxes and cutting spending. What’s wrong with that?
Next President of the United States of America…thank God!! Hes Reagan and Capone combined..kind of guy we need to bust-heads around here! Hes the Anti-Obama! love him!
Christie had me at “Hello” and I was all for him… then he went and repealed taxes on the haves and have-mores and increased the burden on the poor and middle class. So he’s just another political thug. Hopefully this bully won’t do too much damage before he is voted out of office.
I’ve often wondered why liberal or democratic ‘strongholds’ often find their locales being geographically those urban or minority areas decimated by socialist and collectivist policy-making and oddly (lol) those areas defined as being populated by the super-rich capitalists — industrialists, bankers and the like.
@todmarbri >AMEN!
I like this guy
WHAT! I cannot believe how nice and well equipped this school was!
Thanks to this asshole there are 30 teachers in my school are being fired…have you ever seen a teacher crying in the middle of class because she is losing a job that takes care of her kids? No? well it’s sad really sad
New Jersey is a hell hole police-state that takes land from people every day in order to build more casinos, has cops which pull you over for silly laws like not wearing a seatbelt, a place were every young person I know is looking for a job, Christie won’t change this. Right–Left is not the answer, you must look UP. I’ll be moving to New Hampshire soon… any freedom loving (libertarian minded) person like me should follow the same path.
I believe regardless of the rhetoric at least the Status Quo will understand that Governor Christie means Business for New Jersey. Keep getting rid of the bad guys; so normal everyday, hardworking people can live in NJ. The union IS garbage and school administers need to be placed back in the classroom, THEN you will see changes, immediately. Most of our principals never taught until they were tenured, and are clueless. How do you manage by objective if you don’t understand how to do it too?
I hope your are right. I will try and remember that Taylor ham is just another name for Pork Roll. I think we have had enough of that in Trenton.
Chris Christie will be the best thing to happen in NJ since Taylor Ham.
He won’t fool around with your money. Hopefully, he will be able to get the freeloader’s off the dole and into the work force. GOD Bless CC and NJ.
Congrats Mr. Christie, and I know you’re going to make a great governor for our (soon to be former) sorry state, and get it back on it’s feet! Thank God the idiot voters in New Jersey finally got smart, and voted you in, and hopefully that trend will continue for many more years to come! Goodbye to that lowlife scumbag; Jon Corzine, the Dirty Democrat party (AKA the Do Not Vote For party), and I can’t wait until Obama Bin Laden endures the same fate in 2012! Do NOT EVER VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS!!!!!
More and more I find myself siding with Jesse Ventura: Republican or Democrat, it makes no difference they play the game in the face of the public while toasting champagne behind closed doors. Meanwhile they conspire to slowly chip away at the Constitution while striving towards a 2 class economy like China. Behind all the smoke and mirrors sits the wizard,s of the world also known as the Rothchild’s and Rocafeller’s. I am disappointed in our leader loss of global power. (and GM)
Do you understand that as of today the Democrats are more in industries backpocket (in terms of contributing dollars) than the Republicans are? They are more the same than they are different GameICY.
I am not Republican Because of abortion, but I could never, ever even think of voting Democrat. The party has simply shifted too far left. More left than the Republicans are right IMAO.
Think to yourself, if abortion did not exist would I still vote Republican??
All politicians are selfish in nature but it seems that Dem. Politicians vote yes on matters that We the People would too. Republicans vote to make the rich richer on behalf of big industries. Big Oil, Monopoly Insurance Co.’s
