Why are people trying to punish Barack Obama for his former Pastor’s comments?
I don’t think Barack Obama should be punished for another person’s comments.
BTW I agree with 99 percent of Reverend Wright’s comments. I think he speaks truth, a truth that most are unwilling to deal it.
I don’t agree with his commments at all.
But I agree that Obama has nothing to do with those comments..he can’t make that man shut up!
Obama has his own mind and judgement.
It’s funny that Huckabee and Clinton’s pastor DEFENDED Wright.
ITS because they have nothing on him so thats all they can bring to the table .of course its true and some of what he says can be proven…..but it like cake on their faces.
You agree with that crap ???
You’re a racist.
And quit whining about your precious Obama getting bashed on. If you can’t stand the heat, get outta the kitchen.
that’s all it is. Wright is a Black man that grew up in the era where brothas was sprayed with fire hoses, couldnt get work b/c of skin color, beat with billy clubs to death by cops who ere paid to protect and serve, etc etc—white ppl expect Black ppl to just suck it up and charge it to the game. Get real ppl. A lot of white on here know dang well that some of their parents and grandparents actively prescribed to the tenants of racism yet they get on here, hide behind their screens and act as though racism is a figment of the Black man’s imagination. It’s sickening i tell you.
Because Barack has been attending that church for years. Come on get over that racism card. So, over it! That stuff happened years ago…please. Then the pastor using God’s name in vain. That is not christian like at all!!!!!!!
I would never attend such a church. Jesus is love and most people are not prejudice nowadays!!
Because he attended that church and remained to listen to anti-American, racist diatribes, and has labeled Wright as his mentor. Because of those simple facts I don’t think he deserves to be rewarded with the title of President of this country. Nor will he be…
I would agree with about oh 80% of his comments. He isn’t a bad speaker or an immoral person. He does go just a bit further than I would.
The purpose is to stain Obama. Before this pastor thing Obama was sweeping the country without much effort. So republicans are trying to find any garbage they can to stop him.
For some reason they feel religion will work.
because its a person of leadership spewing racist garbage. you go to a church to hear a message of what you believe in. If he’s been going to this church for 20 some years, then that means he’s been a believer of racist garbage. he made the choice to attend, so that means he agrees with the message. sounds like a good candidate huh? He’s more a terrorist than a presidential hopeful.
Then that makes you also a racist. Barrack considered this racist his spiritual adviser. Barrack is a racist.
Because it shows he has bad judgment in the people he picks for friends, and he is the one who has been harping on what great judgment he has.
You seem to be missing the point. The pastor is a close and trusted advisor of Obama, and has been with him for at least 17 years. He spewed racially-based hatred that, had he been white, would have caused a white candidate that was a member of a predominantly white congregation to be run out of the election. We are pointing out the hypocrisy of coming to his defense and labeling it “anger” rather than racism. But even further, you don’t even need Pastor Wright’s inflammatory comments. Obama is a member of church that gave a lifetime achievement award to one of the most virulent racists of our day, Louis Farrakhan. He has called Hitler a great man. Again, I ask you, if a white candidate for president was a member of an organization that gave a lifetime achievement award to a racist like David Duke, do you think that candidate would survive a presidential race? Of course not! So we are pointing out the hypocrisy of the racial double standard. Candidates should be judged by the same set of standards. If we are using two sets of standards to judge the actions and associations of white and black candidates, then no amount of sweet talk on the part of Obama will get us any closer to achieving unity or change, the mantras of the Obama campaign, now exposed to be hollow and insincere.
Herein lies the problem. Rev Wright is a racist, making hateful comments. He is a man of God and is supposed to be teaching religion, not spewing political hate from the pulpit. If you don’t see the problem, you are as sick as he is.
Obama has been listening to, and supporting his pastor for 20 years. If he is not guilty by association, he is guilty for associating. I think it is hypocritical of Obama to listen to hate speech then try to tell us he can unite us.
Ignorance has no boundaries and know no color or ethnicity…..those who want to punish Obama for his pastor are those who will vote McCain if Obama wins the nomination…those are the ones who think that they are BETTER, SUPERIOR or whatever, because they are white….they take it for granted–they don’t want things to change–because if things change then they have to deal with intelligent, educated, and very well mannered blacks…then they don’t have no one they can blame the misery in our cities on—it’s the black man who gets portrayed as the bad guy all over movies…you hardly find a movie where the black guy is actually the good guy….has anyone ever paid attention to that? It’s those whites who are so complacent: they got their little houses, a kid, a dog, 2 cars, a vacation every year-why would they want to turn over things to a black guy? They are afraid that they will lose their privileges to the black people and that they have to live on the other side of the fence…………so they punish Obama for his reverend….because see, to openly say that they do not want a black president means to openly admit that they’re racist—and in their minds they are not racist–and maybe they aren’t….maybe they just take things so for granted that they cannot care about others any longer….
Because it’s all they’ve got…Obama is going to win the nomination, he’s going to win the general election, and he’s going to be our next President.
Those that are afraid of him have been trying unsuccessfully to dig up some dirt on him since this campaign began, and now they think they have that dirt, in the form of another man’s words…soundbites, taken out of context, that are inflammatory and offensive to many, but nobody will take the time to listen to anything else this guy has said over the past 20+ years.
It’s high time we had this conversation, people, about race and politics and the history of this nation…my parents grew up in a time when black people went to separate schools, ate at separate restaurants, and were intimidated into not voting. My parents grew up in a time when a black man would be lynched if he looked at my mom in the “wrong way”.
This is not ancient history, folks, and while our generation may not be directly responsible for the injustices inflicted on so many people, we cannot pretend that it’s all over and everyone is equal since a whole 40 years have passed. As Senator Obama said, the pain is real, the anger is real, the wounds are fresh to many. We cannot ignore the pain, the anger and the wounds and hope they’ll go away, and we cannot continue with our eyes closed and pretend that these feelings don’t exist anymore.
If anything, I am glad that Reverend Wrights comments have garnered so much publicity…so maybe now we can start talking about these things TOGETHER and think about how with each generation the pain becomes dulled, but unless we address it, the ignorance continues unabated.
Equality DEMANDS accountability of Obama’s action when confronted with racist views.
A no show.
His voting record in Illinois?
A no show.
What has this man accomplished by himself, without his racists associations?
A no show.
I disagree with Rev White “garlic nose Italian” statements. I disagree that anyone injected Africans with the AIDS virus. I disagree with racists financially supporting other racists inclusive of the KKK and Obama’s friends and family.
If you support racists, then you are a racist.
Because you, Obama & Wright are all RACISTS!!!! —If Wright speaks the truth about ” God Damn America ” & his beloved Africa ( where BLACK MASTERS ( NOT WHITE MASTERS ) HAVE BLACK SLAVES ) NOW…..Why don’t you move with Obama & Wright to one of the more war-torn, impoverished Countries in Africa ????? —- That is the REAL truth which you are probably not willing to deal with.
Don’t you worry, he is not hardly getting punished , Nor is Rev. Wright . Because that sermon was preached on 9/16/01, and if anyone was all of that concerned believe me,it would have been out a long time ago. But they are only doing this to make Obama look bad so that no one will vote for him. It already been told that this type of sermon goes in many black churches in the us. and these people come in contact with you everyday. So why aren’t you investigating them ?? Because after all, they are the same people, going to the same type church, hearing the same type sermons .Now what did I say that was not right?? Please tell me .
